Job summary

Brunswick is seeking a Quality Manager for its New York Mills facility to lead the plant's quality strategy and Quality Management System, ensuring customer satisfaction, product excellence, and compliance with Brunswick Boat Group standards.

You will partner with Production, Engineering, Suppliers, and Customers to drive continuous improvement, reduce defects and warranty claims, and lead a high-performing quality team.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, Industrial Engineering or related field required; Associate’s with relevant quality/manufacturing experience considered.
  • Skilled in statistics and capable of leading reliability, capability and SPC studies.
  • 5+ years’ experience in Quality management in manufacturing with assembly experience.
  • 5+ years leadership experience; ability to coordinate teams toward task completion.
  • Familiar with basic quality assurance and measurement techniques.
  • Able to read and explain engineering drawings, including GD&T.
  • Data analysis and reporting, especially Excel.
  • Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Formal Six Sigma training; ASQ CQE/CQM/CSSBB/CSSGB certifications desired.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the total Quality System day-to-day to exceed BBG Quality System Standards.
  • Represent the plant to promote customer requirements and ensure quality objectives.
  • Build and sustain a high-performance quality team through coaching and development.
  • Collaborate across the organization to resolve problems and meet business goals.

  • Ensure processes meet customer, internal and external standards and specs.
  • Drive initiatives to reduce warranty failures and improve process capability.

Position Overview:

The Quality Manager at Brunswick's New York Mills facility leads the plant's quality strategy and Quality Management System to ensure customer satisfaction, product excellence, and compliance with Brunswick Boat Group standards. This role partners closely with Production, Engineering, Suppliers, and Customers to drive continuous improvement, reduce defects and warranty claims, improve process capability, and lead a high-performing quality team. Essential Functions:
  • Responsible for planning, organizing, directing and controlling the day-to-day operations of the total Quality System to ensure customer satisfaction (internal & external) by exceeding our BBG Quality System Standards.
  • Represent the plant to ensure promotion and awareness of customer requirements.
  • Represent the customer to ensure quality objectives are met and preventative actions are in place.
  • Builds and sustains a high-performance quality team by hiring talent, providing technical and strategic guidance, training, developing and providing respectful performance feedback to ensure employees are focused, aligned, and engaged in meeting company objectives.
  • Effectively collaborates and communicates with all levels of the organization as well as with customers and suppliers, as applicable, to resolve problems together, and achieve business goals.
  • Encourages and promotes employee inclusion, capitalizing on the strengths of a truly diverse and collaborative workforce.
  • Accountable for the development and maintenance of strong customer relations.
  • Ensure processes are maintained to monitor the products meet the customer, internal and external standards & specifications.
  • Ensure operating practices are correctly matched with production and customer requirements.
  • lead required problem-solving efforts to eliminate warranty failures
  • Responsible to ensure compliance to the BBG Quality System Standards by developing and maintaining local quality procedures to meet these requirements.
  • Responsible for integrity of all data and quality processes being used in the Plant’s Quality System
  • Create awareness around Total Cost of Quality and drive activities to reduce cost of poor quality
  • Champions and drive continuous improvement in design, suppliers and manufacturing through utilization of Operational Excellence tools, LSS and other techniques.
  • Develop, evaluate & improve process capability together with the Production and Engineering departments
  • Drive process improvements to reduce scrap, rework and supplier non-conformances
  • Develop, maintain & execute short- and long-term quality budget/ business plans.
  • Ensure compliance to internal and external product and compliance audits and certificates
  • Promote safe work practices as highest priority.

Required and Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field required; Associate’s degree considered with relevant quality and manufacturing experience. Advanced knowledge of quality policies and procedures

  • 5+ years’ experience in Quality management in a manufacturing environment, with assembly experience
  • 5+ years leadership experience; demonstrated ability to coordinate teams toward task completion
  • Must be familiar with basic quality assurance and measurement techniques
  • Must be able to understand and explain engineering drawings, including GD&T
  • Data analysis & reporting (especially proficient in Excel)
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, both verbal and written, the ability to effectively communicate cross-functionally
  • Bachelor's degree in either Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics or industrial Engineering
  • Formal Six Sigma Training; ASQ certifications desired: CQE, CQM, CSSBB, CSSGB
Working Conditions:
  • Works in a manufacturing and office environment
  • Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, climb and bend about the facility
  • Exposed to dust, odors, fumes and moderate noise.

The pay range for this position is $103,200 - $144,000 annually. The actual pay offered will vary depending multiple factors including job-related knowledge/skills, relevant experience, business –need, and geographic location. In addition to base pay, this position may be eligible for discretionary bonus or short-term incentive program.
