Job summary

Composite Factory in Mooresville, NC is seeking a Quality Manager to build a structured, compliant quality program across Fibreworks Composites and subcontractors. You will ensure all parts meet customer specs and engineering standards.

You will develop the Quality Manual, create procedures, drive internal/external audits and calibrations, and train staff to uphold AS9100/ISO 9001 standards in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Quality Assurance or Engineering is required.
  • Minimum of five years of Composite industry experience.
  • AS9100 and ISO Certification experience preferred.
  • Thorough knowledge of composite materials manufacturing equipment and processes is a plus.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead Quality Assurance System functions across Fibreworks Composites and sub-contractors.
  • Develop and maintain the Quality Manual in compliance with ISO 9001 and ASQ 9001.
  • Create work instructions, procedures, and process maps to support the Quality System.
  • Collaborate with engineering to define QA standards.
  • Perform calibrations and establish calibration schedules.
  • Manage non-conformance and corrective actions.
  • Conduct internal and external audits to verify system effectiveness.
  • Ensure ERP/MRP processes are followed daily.
  • Inspect parts using metrology equipment and maintain records.
  • Educate production and engineering teams on quality control issues.
  • Mentor and develop quality control staff; plan professional development.

Position Overview

The Quality Manager will lead Fibreworks Composites to take the next step in quality by developing a more structured and standardized environment. Ensure all parts manufactured within Fibreworks Composites or its sub-contractors meet the fit, form, and function criteria set by the customers and/or engineering standards.


Key Responsibilities


  • Responsible for all functions of the Quality Assurance System

  • Quality Manual development and upkeep

  • Develop, as needed, work instructions, procedures, process maps, working forms, etc., to support the Quality System and bring it into full compliance with ISO 9001 and ASQ 9001 Standard requirements

  • Collaborate with engineering to define QA standards

  • Performing calibrations and developing calibration schedule

  • Non-conformance and corrective actions

  • Internal and external audits to prove system effectiveness

  • Full compliance of all required internal ERP/MRP processes daily

  • Ensure part quality standards are met at all stages of manufacturing according to specifications on internal and/or external engineering drawings

  • Inspect parts using PCMM and other standard metrology equipment for weights and measures (calipers, micrometers, depth gauge, gauge pins, Romer arm, etc.) keeping detailed records (weights, checklists, reports, etc.) in an organized and standard fashion

  • Educate production and engineering teams on quality control issues to improve overall production quality

  • Provide clear and timely communication to customers, vendors, and staff when discussing quality issues such as reporting findings on inspection reports, determining capability, understanding design intent, concessions, non-conformance, etc.

  • Train and develop and mentor skills of quality control team

  • Create, maintain, and execute a plan for professional development for continuous improvement both personally, professionally, and for the department

  • Supervision of Quality Department support staff

  • Must adhere to health and safety procedures, and all workplace policies

  • Perform all other duties as assigned.


What You Will Bring to the Team


  • Bachelor’s degree in Quality Assurance or Engineering required.

  • Must have a minimum of five (5) years of Composite industry experience

  • AS9100 ISO Certification

  • Thorough knowledge of composite materials related manufacturing equipment and processes a plus

  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Must be well organized and have the ability to multitask

  • Attention to detail and good documentation practices

  • Self-starter, results-oriented individual with ability to organize and analyze data

  • Proficient with MS Office products and ERP systems

  • Knowledge of basic math and computer skills are important because measuring, calibrating, and calculating specifications are major parts of quality control testing

  • Must be a US Citizen or Permanent Resident in compliance with ITAR regulations.

Hours of Operation

7:00 am – 4:00 pm; Monday through Friday, with occasional weekends, overtime, and holidays as scheduled by leadership. This position is required to work on-site during scheduled business hours. Any exceptions for remote or work-from-home arrangements must be reviewed and approved in advance by the employee’s manager.
