Job summary

Sanmina—Houston is seeking a senior Quality Assurance leader to develop, implement, and maintain robust quality systems for electromechanical assemblies and high-temperature PCBs. The role leads a QA team, drives customer communications on quality issues, and ensures ISO:9000 compliance across site processes and NPI programs.

You will oversee PFMEAs, CAPA/NCR activities, supplier quality, and continuous improvement initiatives while coordinating with manufacturing and engineering to ensure

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field
  • Minimum of 6+ years of experience in quality engineering or related area in a manufacturing environment in a leadership role
  • Hands-on experience with quality tools including process flowcharts, FMEA’s, control plans, CAPA, RCCA and 8D
  • Experience implementing Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies including statistical analysis techniques (SPC, DOE)
  • Internal audit experience is required
  • ASQ QE, RE, QM certifications are a plus
  • Experience communicating with customers on quality issues is expected
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor QA team
  • Be an outspoken advocate for Quality First throughout the plant
  • Expediently and effectively communicate with customers on quality escapes, visits, escalations, etc.
  • Maintain and improve the site QMS (including NCR and CAPA system, internal audit, training, etc.)
  • Maintain the site QMS compliance with ISO:9000 and any site/customer upcoming certifications required
  • Responsible for ensuring effective quality planning (including PFMEAs, process flows and control plans) for NPI and production parts
  • Develop additional sources of quality data and track and report key Quality-related performance indicators (KPIs)
  • Manage and improve supplier quality
  • Be an advocate for lean and six sigma manufacturing principles and drive continuous improvement
  • Drive cross functional projects with manufacturing, supply chain, and engineering, to verify and validate existing manufacturing processes and capabilities
  • Overall owner of all applicable training requirements (ESD, 5’S, C-TPAT, Warehouse, Operations, Repair & FA)

Sanmina Energy (Houston) provides: Product Engineering with an emphasis on energy including very complex electro-mechanical systems; Assembly & Test for full electromechanical assemblies across multiple industries with capability to produce new and legacy [high temperature] printed circuit board assemblies; and Precision Machining with capabilities across the full material spectrum.

Job Purpose:

Develops, implements, and maintains technical quality assurance and control systems and activities. Manages the activities of the team and is responsible for staffing decisions, training and development, and performance management of the staff. Defines and specifies the implementation of standards, methods, and procedures for inspecting, testing, and evaluating the precision, accuracy, and reliability of company products. Participates in the reviewing of engineering designs to contribute quality requirements and considerations. Assists product support areas in gathering and analyzing data. Selects, develops, and evaluates personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function.

Nature of Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Drive cross functional projects with manufacturing, supply chain, and engineering, to verify and validate existing manufacturing processes and capabilities
  • Overall owner of all applicable training requirements (ESD, 5’S, C-TPAT, Warehouse, Operations, Repair & FA)

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field
  • Minimum of 6+ years of experience in quality engineering or related area in a manufacturing environment in a leadership role.
  • Detailed knowledge and hands on experience with quality tools including process flowcharts, FMEA’s, control plans, CAPA, RCCA and 8D required
  • Experience in IPC workmanship requirements is a plus
  • Experience implementing Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies including statistical analysis techniques (Design of Experiments, Statistical Process Control (SPC), etc) preferred.
  • Certified Green or Black belt a plus
  • Internal audit experience is required
  • Experience using Microsoft Office and Google docs product suite required
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required
  • ASQ certifications in QE, RE, QM is a plus
