Job summary

Kratos Defense & Security Solutions, Inc. is seeking a Quality Manager to lead the QMS, ensure compliance with DoD and ISO standards, and supervise engineering and technician teams in Crane, IN. The role focuses on audits, corrective actions, supplier coordination, and process improvements.

The position requires a DOD clearance, strong leadership, and extensive experience with ISO 9001:2015 and related standards within a manufacturing or lab environment. On-site role with competitive benefits.

Qualifications

  • Must be able to obtain/maintain DoD Secret Clearance.
  • Experience with Quality Management systems in ISO 9001:2015, AS9100D, or ISO 13485:2016 environments.
  • Recruit, train, and manage quality technicians and inspectors, fostering a culture of quality-by-design.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain the QMS per ISO 9001:2015 standards.
  • Lead internal audits and manage audit schedules.
  • Oversee corrective actions for quality issues and CAPA implementation.
  • Coordinate with suppliers and cross‑functional teams to ensure a compliant environment.
  • Analyze quality data and report KPIs to senior management.

Essential Job Functions
Primary
  • Develop, implement, and maintain the Quality Management System (QMS) in accordance with industry standard ISO 9001:2015 .
  • Ensure products meet legal, safety, and industry regulations. Lead internal audits and manage internal audit schedule.
  • Develop and maintain quality procedures and instructions for engineering, Test Vehicle testing, and design and development projects.
  • Maintain a controlled QMS document library.
  • Lead and support Corrective Action efforts for problem identification, improvement, and prevention.
  • Monitor testing and manufacturing processes to identify deviations and ensure strict adherence to set protocols.
  • Prepare material used to evaluate the effectiveness of the quality management system in support of management review meetings and in other settings.
  • Provide support for customer representatives regarding quality issues.
  • Participate in the development of and utilize key performance indicators (KPI’s) to achieve Quality goals.
Secondary
  • Work with suppliers to resolve or improve quality issues and to implement effective corrective action.
  • Work with support service stakeholders , including Procurement, IT, Human Resources, Contract Administration, and Facilities , to ensure a fully compliant management system environment.
  • Support engineers and technical staff in design and process validations, process control, process training, process improvement, and risk management.
  • Coordinate process steps, standards , requirements, and infrastructure to enhance the existing ISO 9001 Q uality M anagement S ystem.
  • Investigate, resolve, and document quality issues, implementing corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) .
  • Evaluate the quality of raw materials from third-party vendors and handle customer feedback to resolve complaints or product recalls.
  • Analyze quality metrics and data to prepare reports for senior management.
  • Other quality - related responsibilities assigned by management.
Supervisory Responsibility

Manager-level supervisory responsibility overseeing engineering and technician teams.

Experience and Skills
Required
  • Must be able to obtain/ maintain DoD Secret C learance.
  • Experience with Quality Management processes in an environment compliant with ISO 9001:2015, AS9100D, or ISO 13485:2016 standards .
  • Recruit, train, and manage quality technicians and inspectors, fostering a culture of "quality-by-design".
  • Working knowledge of desktop applications including MS Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint .
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Good problem-solving abilities using systematic, logical, and sequential approaches.
  • Self-motivation to take the initiative to complete tasks.
  • Strong leadership, analytical problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
Preferred
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or 10+ years of experience.
  • 5+ years in a leadership or management role within an engineering, laboratory, or manufacturing environment with at least 3 years at the senior level.
  • 7+ years of relevant engineering experience in laboratory operations, electrical/mechanical development, machining, testing, or prototyping (or equivalent combination of education and industry/military experience).
Travel

Up to 2 5 %

Work Environment

This position operates across engineering office spaces, advanced electrical laboratories, integrated test environments, precision machine shop areas, and facility operational zones. Work involves planning, oversight, scheduling, documentation review, process development, and cross ? departmental coordination. The role requires adherence to facility safety protocols, ESD practices, and operational standards while supporting fast ? paced, mission ? driven workflows. The Quality Manager will regularly interact with engineers, technicians, mission providers, and department managers, and may be required to support hands ? on assessments or oversight during integration, fabrication, or test activities.
