Job summary

Stanley Black & Decker, Inc. Chesterfield & Troy sites seek a Plant Quality Manager to oversee quality across three facilities. This onsite role enforces QMS per IATF 16949, AS9100, and ISO 9001, drives improvements, and reports to leadership.

The successful candidate will have a bachelor’s in engineering, 5+ years in automotive quality, Six Sigma Black Belt, and hands-on APQP/PPAP, PFMEA, SPC, MSA experience for root-ccause resolution and metrics.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or higher in a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of quality management experience in automotive manufacturing.
• Certified Six Sigma Black Belt desirable (ASQ CSSBB also considered).
• Experience with APQP, PPAP, 8D, SPC, MSA, Control Plan and PFMEA.

Responsibilities

• Establish and maintain the QMS per IATF 16949, AS9100, and ISO 9001.
• Lead Gemba walks and executive level reviews for continuous improvement.
• Manage internal and external quality audits and corrective actions.
• Develop quality objectives and KPI dashboards for the plant.
• Coach and train manufacturing staff on quality tools and problem solving.

The Job:

As a Quality Manager, you’ll be part of our SEF Chesterfield & Troy, MI Team working as an onsite employee.

The Quality Manager is responsible for overseeing and implementing quality control procedures across the three facilities located in Chesterfield and Troy, Michigan, ensuring that all products and services consistently meet established standards by monitoring production processes, conducting inspections, analyzing data, and identifying areas for improvement to maintain high quality output and customer satisfaction; they typically develop and enforce quality standards, train staff on quality procedures, and report on quality metrics to leadership.

You’ll get to:

• Establish and maintain the quality management system per IATF 16949, AS9100, & ISO 9001
• Ensure that processes needed for the Quality Management System (QMS) are established, implemented, and maintained.
• Responsible for conducting management review meetings.
• Ensure the promotion and awareness of our QMS throughout the organization.
• Plan and direct activities associated with the development, implementation, and maintenance of quality standards, processes, and work instructions.
• Ensure customer’s needs (PPAPs, 8D’s, etc.) are met and addressed in a timely manner.
• Maintain a document control system to approve, review and update all changes to critical documents within the scope of the QMS.
• Work with management to establish quality objectives for the QMS. Establish metrics which provide objective evidence on the organization’s performance. Compile data and report results.
• Manage and report Quality KPI dashboard for the plant on a regular basis.
• Lead Executive level Gemba walks on a regular basis to ensure Manufacturing quality operating system is functioning properly with regular huddles, tiered Gemba walks and updated performance boards with Continuous improvement on KPIs.
• Review and address the results of internal and external audits.
• Must be able to perform, lead, coach and train manufacturing personnel with FMEA, Control Plan, SPC, Process Capability, MSA and problem solving.
• Work with manufacturing and other functional groups for investigations to troubleshoot customer problems/complaints, plant issues, and rejected lots/parts. Determine root cause and corrective actions and develop project plans to drive change.

The Person:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, Electrical, Manufacturing, Quality/Reliability).
• Minimum of 5 years of quality management experience within an automotive manufacturing environment.
• Certified Six Sigma Black Belt from an automotive or related company, ASQ CSSBB is also considered.
• Extensive hands on experience with APQP, PPAP, Problem Solving using 8D Methodology (RCA using Fishbone, 3 Leg 5 Whys, Is/ Is NOT), Process Mapping, PFMEA, Reverse PFMEA, MSA, Control Plan, SPC, Process Capability
• Has experience with Statistical tools and software (Minitab, Reliasoft, etc)
• Must be willing to submit to a background investigation, including verification of your past employment, criminal history, and educational background.
• Previous experience working with ISO/TS/IATF 16949 standards

The Salary range for this position is $95,600.00 - $153,900.00
