Job summary

Surmasis is seeking a Quality Lead in Des Moines, IA to ensure products meet GMP and internal specs. This role spends time in the cleanroom and manufacturing areas providing oversight and guidance to personnel, and performing QA checks on in-process and finished goods.

The Lead will review documents for GMP compliance, train employees, and manage multiple processes in a fast-paced environment, including possible overtime.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Able to lead and influence others by example in attitude and work ethic.
• Able to read and understand product criteria on engineering drawings.
• Able to direct and train employees.
• Able to supervise multiple activities simultaneously.
• Able to read/write English.
• Good attendance and dependability.
• Excels in working independently and self-motivation.
• Knowledge of controls and procedures (error rates, shortages, cycle counting).
• Must pass background check.
• Must complete a position assessment test.

Responsibilities

• Leads a team by example in attitude and work quality.
• Supports batch manufacturing through quality verifications and sampling.
• Reviews documents to ensure GMP and SOP compliance.
• Identifies, investigates, and reports quality issues.
• Performs line clearance, inspections, and testing in manufacturing areas.
• Interprets data and communicates results to Quality management.
• Maintains communication with manufacturing and quality systems.
• Maintains quality standards in all tasks.
• Lifts, shifts, and may work overtime/weekends as needed.
• Interacts with other departments to complete duties.
• Trains employees and mentors other leads.
• Reads and follows SOPs.
• Any other duties as required.
