Job summary

Chobani in Norton Shores, Michigan, is seeking a Quality Lead to review production records daily and assist on off shifts with food safety and quality issues. You will ensure CCPs and PCs are met, support root-cause troubleshooting, and help maintain organized quality documentation.

The role requires lab QA experience in food manufacturing, knowledge of GMPs, HACCP/PCQI is a plus, and strong communication. You will train new staff, verify COAs, and back up lab technicians as needed.

Qualifications

• Minimum one year QA lab experience in food manufacturing.
• HACCP/PCQI preferred.
• BPCS preferred.
• Degree in Biology, Chemistry or Food Science or commensurate experience.
• Knowledge of food microbiology and chemistry; FDA/USDA and SQF awareness.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Strong written and verbal communication.
• Able to work with diverse teams; adapt to changes.
• Good multitasking and basic math skills.

Responsibilities

• Notify supervisor/manager of issues and submit deviations.

• Maintain organized quality and production records; file/archive.
• Ensure proper hold placement of products.
• Perform pre-operational inspections.
• Assist in training new employees on GMPs and QA procedures.
• Verify raw material COAs meet specifications.
• Back up lab technicians as needed.
• Communicate performance concerns to the supervisor.

Job description

Job Overview:

Quality Lead will review all production records daily and identify any abnormalities. Will also serve as a resource for food safety and/or quality needs on the off shift.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Review all production and quality records, ensuring all CCPs and PCs are met. Notify Quality Supervisor/Quality Manager of any issues identified and submit identified Process Deviations to the relevant authority
• Serve as a quality resource and assist in troubleshooting quality or food safety concerns as they arise, elevating concerns as needed
• Maintain organization of quality and production records, including filing and archiving records as needed
• Ensure product is properly placed on hold as required
• Perform pre-operational inspections
• Assist in training new employees on GMPs and other Quality Procedures
• Verify raw materials COAs, ensuring specifications are met
• Backup lab technicians as needed
• Any other duties as assigned
• Communicates any performance concerns to the Supervisor

Job Requirements:

• Minimum of one previous quality assurance lab experience in a food manufacturing environment or equivalent
• HACCP and PCQI preferred
• Better Process Control School preferred
• Degree in Biology, Chemistry or Food Science related field or commensurate high-level experience
• Knowledge of food microbiology and chemistry, FDA and USDA regulatory requirements, and SQF
• Skilled proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
• Effective written and verbal communication skills
• Able to work with diverse teams
• Ability to adapt to changing organizational and operational needs
• Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
• Able to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimal

The salary range for this full-time position is$29.50-$42.00, + bonus + equity + benefits. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
