Job summary

Hawkins, Inc. in Minneapolis, MN is seeking a Quality Lab Technician to inspect and verify product quality against customer specifications. The role covers sampling, analysis, documentation, and internal audits across production stages.

A science degree or equivalent experience is required, with preference for regulated manufacturing experience and strong MS Office skills. The position offers a 7:00am–3:30pm shift, $24 per hour plus 5% bonus eligibility, and comprehensive benefits including

  • Bachelor's degree in a scientific discipline or equivalent experience
  • Experience working in a regulated manufacturing environment preferred (ISO, SQF, FAMI-Q5, IPEC, etc.)
  • Experience with testing methodology and the ability to analyze and interpret results
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft applications - Outlook, Word, Excel
  • Problem solving, trouble shooting, time management and organization skills
  • Ability to communicate well with all disciplines and levels at the facility and corporate

Responsibilities

  • Dispose for receipt, inspection, and release of materials and packaging
  • Issue and file batch records, labels, and facility docs
  • Create and issue Certificates of Analysis for shipments
  • Review COA and verify against internal specs
  • Review department systems to improve processes
  • Maintain laboratory equipment
  • Facilitate third‑party testing on materials and final product
  • Apply quality and safety standards and report incidents
  • Perform other related duties as needed

Job description

Hawkins, Inc. is a formulator, manufacturer, blender, distributer, and sales agent for thousands of industrial chemicals and reagent grade laboratory chemicals sold to municipalities and businesses throughout the Central United States. Thousands across a variety of industries have depended on Hawkins for the chemical products they need since 1938.

The Quality Lab Technician has the accountability for inspecting and verifying that the product produced is made in accordance with the Customer’s specification and meets the Company’s quality expectations. Performing validation, verification of monitoring activities, product sampling, inspection, analysis and internal audits at all stages of production per governing regulations.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Provide disposition for the receipt, inspection, and release of raw, in – process, finished product, packaging materials and processing aids
  • Issue, review, and file batch records, labels, facility documentation and seals for manufacturing and packaging
  • Create and issue Certificates of Analysis for all shipments. Prepare other customer specific documentation or label requirements
  • Review Certificates of Analysis provided with the raw material or container and verify against internal specifications.
  • Review department systems to improve processes and procedures
  • Maintain all laboratory equipment
  • Perform and/or facilitate third party product testing on raw materials, in-process and final product
  • Apply all product quality and safety standards as well as report any product safety incidents to the Supervisor, Manager, or designated back-up (applicable to positions working in accordance with specific plant or company certifications)
  • Perform other miscellaneous related duties, as needed
ABOUT YOU:
  • Bachelor's degree in a scientific discipline or equivalent experience
  • Experience working in a regulated manufacturing environment preferred (ISO, SQF, FAMI-Q5, IPEC, etc.)

TRAVEL
Expected Compensation:

$24.00/hr. + 5% Bonus Eligibility
