Job summary

Ornua Ingredients North America is seeking an entry-level FSQ Tech I to work closely with production staff to ensure compliance with GMPs and quality protocols across the facility.

You will assist with inspections, audits, and safety programs, while learning analytical procedures and defect prevention strategies in a fast-paced dairy manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Ability to understand, speak and write in English.
• Ability to calculate figures and amounts with accuracy.
• Experience with Dairy.

Responsibilities

• Learn and retain knowledge about inspection and analytical procedures.
• Contribute to special projects as assigned by FSQ Lead.
• Contribute to the Positive Release and Hold Program.
• Assist SQF Practitioner(s) in Food Safety Program review for SQF Audits.
• Perform Redzone QMS Inspections.
• Be trained in and perform internal audits.
• Understand and enforce GMP and safety requirements.
• Inform upper management of any food safety risks or non-conformances and protect program integrity.
• Apply knowledge of customer expectations and Food Safety & Quality standards.
• Assist with decision-making, risk assessment, troubleshooting, and problem solving.
• Complete tasks as assigned by FSQ Lead.

WHY THIS ROLE IS VALUABLE

The FSQ Tech I work closely with production staff in reporting any out- of -specification products, ingredients, or conditions as soon as possible. He/She will work cross-functionally to ensure all employees follow GMP’s and Quality protocols as defined by local, state, and federal regulations. Must be highly motivated and organized with the willingness to learn.

KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

• Efficiently learns and retains knowledge about inspection and analytical procedures
• Contributes to special projects as assigned by FSQ Lead
• Contributes to the Positive Release and Hold Program
• Assists SQF Practitioner(s) in Food Safety Program review in preparation for SQF Audits
• Performs Redzone QMS Inspections
• Becomes trained in and perform internal audits
• Understands and enforces facility GMP sand safety requirements
• Informs upper management immediately of any food safety risks or significant non-conformances and take action to maintain the integrity and efficacy of the Food Safety and Food Adulteration / Food Defense programs
• Applies knowledge of customer expectations and Food Safety & Quality standards to adequately protect customer and regulatory requirements
• Assists with decision-making, assessing risk, troubleshooting, problem solving
• Completes any task as assigned by FSQ Lead

KEY REQUIREMENTS

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Ability to understand, speak and write in English
• Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, averages, density, area, circumference, and volume with accuracy and ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry
• Experience with Dairy

Desired Qualifications

• Food Science, Biology, Microbiology, or Chemistry Degree
• General knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP), Sanitation, and Production
• Prior experience in a manufacturing environment

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

This role requires regular standing, walking, bending, twisting, pushing, pulling, and lifting up to 60 pounds. Employees must be able to perform repetitive motions and safely operate equipment while following all safety and quality procedures.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT

Work is performed in a food manufacturing facility with variable temperatures — cooler warehouse areas and warmer production zones. The environment includes exposure to moving equipment, moderate to loud noise levels, and required use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety shoes, hearing protection, gloves, and hairnets.
