It is important to us that the people we invite onto our team are a good fit both technically and culturally, and that the feeling is mutual. The process we use to assess fit may be different than what you've experienced with other companies, and we have designed it that way for a reason. If you have applied and are being considered for a position with us, this brief video will help you understand what to expect as you move through the Dexter/DexKo Selection Process.

At Dexter, we manufacture and distribute axles, accessories, and towing components primarily serving the commercial trailer, RV, marine, agriculture, and manufactured housing markets. We're building products and systems that are rooted in a culture of safety, collaboration, and innovation.

The Quality Intern will work alongside Dexter's Quality Team to support quality initiatives, analyze data, solve problems, and contribute to continuous improvement projects within a manufacturing environment.

This is a hands-on internship designed to give students meaningful experience applying quality and continuous improvement principles to real-world business and manufacturing challenges. Interns may support projects from initial definition and scoping through data collection, analysis, documentation, implementation, and results.

This position is located at Dexter's headquarters in Elkhart, Indiana.

  • Applying Lean, Six Sigma, and Toyota Production System methodologies to continuous improvement activities
  • Performing daily and weekly quality data checks
  • Collecting and entering data from manufacturing processes and equipment
  • Analyzing, charting, and reporting quality data
  • Identifying trends and opportunities for process and quality improvements
  • Supporting problem-solving and troubleshooting activities
  • Creating documents, drawings, training materials, and other resources needed to support and complete projects
  • Collaborating with Quality and other team members to support project objectives and quality initiatives

What We're Looking For

  • Enthusiasm for quality, manufacturing, and continuous improvement
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Strong attention to detail

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel
  • A strong commitment to workplace safety
  • Professionalism, accountability, and sound judgment
  • The ability to appropriately handle confidential company and business information
  • A willingness to ask questions, learn, and take ownership of your work

Knowledge of or exposure to quality systems, Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and/or the Toyota Production System is preferred.
