Job summary

Millennium Space Systems, a Boeing company, seeks a Quality Inspector to join the El Segundo, CA team onsite. This 2nd shift role requires ensuring the quality and traceability of materials and final products, coordinating with multiple departments, and maintaining MES documentation.

Ideal candidates have 1+ year of QA inspection experience, interpreting aerospace drawings, and using precision measuring tools. Onsite work with potential travel and union environment is expected.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED or equivalent.
• 1+ year of experience performing quality inspections.
• 1+ year of experience working with QA specifications and requirements.
• 1+ year of experience documenting corrective actions and non-conformance.
• 1+ year of experience reading and interpreting aerospace drawings and blueprints.
• 1+ year of experience using precision measuring tools (micrometers, calipers, dial indicators).
• Capable of lifting 20 lbs or more on a frequent basis.

Responsibilities

• Initiates corrective actions with Manufacturing, ATLO, and Engineering teams.
• Maintains systems ensuring quality and traceability of incoming materials and final products.
• Interfacing with Design, Manufacturing Engineering, Materials, Procurement and Shipping on quality issues.
• Monitors manufacturing processes through audits to ensure work aligns with specs and standards.
• Documents discrepancies as they occur during manufacturing and test operations.
• Independently verifications and documents results clearly and precisely.
• Supports other inspection areas as needed by leadership.
• Develops, implements, and audits inspection/test plans and acceptance criteria.
• Facilitates root cause analysis and resolution with production DRs.
• Assists in conducting annual audits and system surveys.
• Makes recommendations on process improvements for programs or product areas.
• Demonstrates working knowledge of MES systems (JIRA, Costpoint).

Position Responsibilities:

• Initiates corrective actions with our Manufacturing, ATLO, and Engineering teams
• Maintains systems that will assure the quality and traceability of the incoming materials and final products
• Interfaces and/or works closely with Design and Manufacturing Engineering, Manufacturing, Materials, Procurement and Shipping personnel on procedural issues involving design, methods, tooling, cost and other areas involved in the control of product quality
• Monitors all manufacturing processes through audits and daily evaluations, to ensure that assembly & test operations being performed in accordance with approved specifications and standards
• Documents discrepancies as they occur during manufacturing & test operations
• Independently perform verifications and document results in a clear, precise, and complete manner
• Supports in other inspection areas defined by Millennium Space Systems Leadership as business needs require
• Develops, implements, and audits inspection and test plans, acceptance criteria, and in-process work instructions
• Facilitates root cause analysis and resolution with manufacturing / production area DR’s
• Assists in conducting annual audits and systems surveys
• Makes recommendations to company leadership on the implementation of process improvements on assigned program(s) or product areas
• Demonstrates working knowledge and interfaces of MES systems (JIRA, Costpoint, etc.)

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

Shift:

This position is primarily 2nd shift; however, there may be additional shift requirements to support program objectives. Candidates must be able to work any shift assigned.

Union:

• This is an International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) hourly union-represented position.
• New hires and employees transferring from non-union roles may be required to attend or complete training within their 90-day probationary period. Continued employment is contingent on successfully completing the probationary period.

Security Clearance:

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. (An Interim and/or final U.S. Top Secret Clearance Post Start is required.)

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

• Minimum of High School Diploma or GED
• More than 1 year of experience performing Quality Inspections
• More than 1 year of experience working with Quality Assurance specifications and requirements
• More than 1 year of experience documenting corrective actions and non-conformance
• More than 1 year of experience in working with blueprints, specifications, assembly drawings and standard operating procedures
• More than 1 year of experience reading and interpreting aerospace engineering drawings and blueprints
• More than 1 year of experience in setting and using precision measuring tools and equipment such as micrometers, calipers, and/or dial indicators
• Capable of lifting 20lbs or more on a frequent basis

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

• More than 1 year of experience in manufacturing, fabrication, or assembly processes and procedures
• More than 1 year of experience working with ESD, IPC J-STD-001 and IPC-A-610 standards
• Experience working with AS9100 and/or similar QMS standard
• Held an IPC quality certification
