Responsibilities

  • Identify, document, and communicate nonconforming conditions to appropriate personnel.
  • Ensure all inspection activities meet quality and regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct final inspection before shipment to ensure data accuracy and paperwork are complete.

Position Summary

The Quality Inspector is responsible for reviewing and inspecting circuit card assemblies (CCAs), subassemblies, and top-level assemblies to ensure compliance with Workmanship Standards, process documentation, engineering requirements, and quality standards. This position plays a critical role in maintaining product quality throughout the manufacturing process and prior to customer shipment.

Inspectors receive formal classroom training and hands-on mentorship from a Certified Inspector before obtaining authorization to accept product. Inspection authorization is process-specific, and inspectors may be certified in one or more designated assembly processes based on training and qualification requirements.

Training and Certification
  • Participate in classroom training and on-the-job mentoring with certified inspectors in preparation to receive inspection authorization (certification).
  • Successfully complete qualification requirements to obtain inspection authorization (certification) for specific designated processes.
In-Process Inspection
  • Review and inspect circuit card assemblies for compliance with customer Aerospace Workmanship Standards and process documentation.
  • Verify workmanship, assembly quality, and process adherence throughout various stages of production.
  • Identify, document, and communicate nonconforming conditions to appropriate personnel.
  • Ensure all inspection activities meet established quality and regulatory requirements.
In Process Inspection Can Include But Not Limited To
  • Planar inspection (inspection of components soldered directly on circuit card assembly)
  • Non-planar inspection (inspection of components soldered off the circuit card assembly)
  • Wire wrap assemblies
  • Package on package soldering
  • Other non-planar assembly configurations
  • Conformal Coat Inspection (inspection and verification of proper application of coverage of acrylic conformal coatings on assemblies)
  • Approved Standard Repairs Inspection (Inspect approved repair activities that may differ from original drawing requirements but do not impact the fit, form, or function of the assembly)
Top-Level Inspection
  • Inspect subassemblies and top-level assemblies that do not require soldering operations.
  • Verify proper installation and assembly of:
  • Cables and connectors
  • Mated circuit cards
  • Mechanical hardware and fasteners
  • Torque requirements and assembly configurations
  • Confirm compliance with assembly documentation and workmanship standards.
Final Acceptance Inspection
  • Conduct final inspection by verifying all inspections that have been approved, data accuracy, tests requirements complete and all required paperwork intact prior to approving for shipment.
What You Will Bring
  • High school diploma or equivalent with 1-3 years of quality inspection experience in Aerospace or equivalent technology
  • Ability to successfully complete inspector training and certification requirements.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality standards.
  • Able to support overtime as requested
  • Ability to read and interpret manufacturing documentation, work instructions, drawings, and specifications.
  • Effective communication and documentation skills.
  • Experience in electronics manufacturing, or quality inspection environments a plus
  • Experience performing visual and workmanship inspections.

Pay Range: $20/hour-$24/hour

Openings Available On All Shifts
  • 1st Shift (7:30 am-3:30 pm)
  • 2nd Shift (3:30 pm-11:30 pm)
  • 3rd Shift (11:30 pm-7:30 am)

Compensation decisions are made based on factors including experience, skills, education, and other job-related factors, in accordance with our internal pay structure. We also offer a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, paid time off, and retirement plan.

Work Requirements

This role is considered an on-site position located Coralville, Iowa area

  • You must be able to commute to and from the locations with your own transportation arrangements to meet the required working hours.
  • Shop floor environment, which may include but not limited to extensive walking, and ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
Travel requirements

Due to the nature of the work, no travel is required.
