Job summary

Verus Aerospace is seeking an experienced Quality Inspector to monitor and measure quality on close tolerance aerospace parts. You will perform in-process, first article, and final dimensional inspection, set up and operate a CMM, and provide feedback to engineering and manufacturing teams.

Responsibilities include inspecting parts and assemblies against drawings and specifications, verifying documentation, recording results, and contributing to continuous improvement of inspection processes.

Qualifications

  • 5 years of prior machine shop inspection experience.
  • Aerospace experience preferred.
  • Reading Blueprints and GD&T tolerancing.
  • Proficiency in setup and use of measuring devices.
  • Demonstrated accuracy, legibility and organization of written records.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect partially complete or completed-machined parts and assemblies to assure compliance with drawing requirements.
  • Inspect the work of outside processors and/or purchased parts to verify compliance with P.O., applicable specifications and drawing requirements.
  • Verify dimensions, surface finish, hardness, serialization and lot tracking as required.
  • Record inspection results on written records and in computer database.
  • Maintain historical files and summary records and notify appropriate parties of results.
  • Perform First Article inspections (AS9102) and write non-conformance rejection tags.
  • Operate Coordinate Measuring machine and other inspection equipment; troubleshoot and improve CMM programs.
  • Prove out new CMM programs and provide dimensional feedback to Engineering, Manufacturing and related departments.

Job description

Monitor and measure quality on close tolerance aerospace machined, metal parts and components. Inspectors are responsible in-process, 1st part, and final dimensional inspection of parts and assemblies. Set up and operate CMM and advanced inspection equipment, making edits and providing accurate feedback to supporting departments.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Know and follow general company and corporate policies and procedures.
  • Know, understand, and follow department policies and procedures.
  • Meet personal goals and workplace expectations.
  • Inspect partially complete or completed‑machined parts and assemblies to assure compliance with drawing requirements.
  • Inspect the work of outside processors and/or purchased parts to verify compliance with P.O., applicable specifications and drawing requirements. Verify the appropriate documentation is present.
  • Typical requirements to be verified include dimensions, surface finish, hardness, serialization and lot tracking, part marking, appearance, etc.
  • Record inspection results as required both on written records and computer database.
  • Maintain historical files and summary records as required. Notify appropriate parties of results.
  • Visual inspection of complex machined parts, and verification of vendor certifications for completeness and accuracy.
  • Perform and document AS9102 First Article inspections.
  • Writing of non‑conformance rejection tags.
  • Work effectively with others to build teamwork within the Quality function and the Company.
  • Operate Coordinate Measuring machine and technical measuring equipment. Trouble shoot and improve CMM programs or processes as needed.
  • Prove out new CMM programs and provide accurate dimensional feedback to Engineering, Manufacturing, Programming and related departments.
  • Approves part specifications and dimensions using hard layout methodologies.
  • Ability to document work instructions and process documentation.
  • Accurately manage CMM programs and other inspection documentation, using master programs and documents.
  • Capture, and interpret maintain SPC and sampling data as required.
  • Perform delegated customer inspection duties and required training as needed.

Education and Experience
  • 5 years of prior machine shop Inspection experience.
  • Aerospace experience preferred.
  • Working knowledge in the use of all basic Inspection equipment
  • Demonstrated knowledge in the interpretation and application of aerospace/customer specifications
  • Demonstrated proficiency in reading Blueprints and GD&T tolerancing.
  • Demonstrated accuracy in setup and use of measuring device.
  • Demonstrated accuracy, legibility and organization of written records.
  • Demonstrated ability to contribute effectively to a team effort.
  • Demonstrated responsiveness to changing priorities.
