Mid Continent Engineering is seeking a Quality Inspector to join our team. This is a 2nd shift opportunity (4 pm to 2:30 am, Mon–Thu). We provide competitive wages and a range of benefits for employees and families.

The ideal candidate will perform advanced quality control, including mechanical inspection, CMM, and internal audits, while supporting the Quality Management System and ensuring compliance with customer specifications.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED or equivalent; 3–5 years quality control experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Blueprint reading and GD&T knowledge.
• Experience in ISO 9001 and AS9100 environments.
• Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, etc.).
• Epicor ERP software experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Perform advanced quality control activities including mechanical inspection, CMM, and internal audits.
• Use SPC, Pareto charts and capability studies to ensure stable processes.
• Set up and operate quality equipment for QA tasks.
• Conduct complex inspection procedures using precision testing equipment.
• Identify and communicate root causes of defects; implement corrective actions with production supervisors.
• Maintain Quality Management System records and compliance documentation.
• Perform receiving, in-process and final inspections with minimal supervision.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Summary:

Develop and/or adapt inspection equipment to meet quality control standards, make suggestions regarding procedures, standards, methods, and equipment to facilitate work and maintain product quality.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Advanced quality control activities such as mechanical inspection, CMM, special process verification (welding, painting, plating) and internal auditing.

• Use basic statistical tools such as statistical process control (SPC), pareto charting and capability studies to ensure a stable process
• Set-up and operate all quality equipment for use in accomplishing quality assurance
• Perform complex inspection procedures using precision testing equipment
• Determine the reason for product defects and communicate to others
• Investigate and determine direct cause/root cause of problems and implement corrective actions of non-conformances with the production supervisors
• Maintain discipline, morale and harmonious relations among employees
• Support and maintain the Quality Management System/Quality Records, raw material, hardware certifications, C of C's, reject reports, CAPA databases and inspection records
• Perform receiving, in-process/ final inspection for quality, appearance & compliance with customer specifications, for complicated parts and assemblies with little to no supervision.
• Perform other duties, as assigned.

Education & Experience:

• High School Diploma/ G.E.D or a degree from an accredited university/ college; or equivalent work experience of 3-5 years' experience in Quality Control in a manufacturing environment with minimum education requirement.
• Blueprint reading/GD&T knowledge
• Experience working in an ISO 9001 and AS9100 environment
• Microsoft Office products, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, etc.
• Epicor ERP Software experience is a plus.

Protect against metal particles, fumes, sparks, particles, and gases (safety glasses, safety-toed boots, ear plugs, and gloves provided by the company policy guidelines).

Individuals working in an office setting will not endure some of the physical & work environmental conditions of the production floor unless the office is adjacent to the production floor or per the individual’s job duty and/ or responsibilities. All office personnel must abide by the PPE guidelines (safety glasses, safety-toed boots that are provided by the company policy guidelines) when entering the production floor or if a requirement of a department that an individual is entering or working in.
