Job summary

Verus Aerospace in Wichita, KS seeks an Inspector to monitor and measure quality on close tolerance aerospace machined parts. You will perform in-process, first article, and final dimensional inspection to confirm conformity to drawings and specifications.

The role requires 2 years of machine shop inspection experience, aerospace familiarity preferred, and proficiency with Blueprint reading and GD&T. You will work with coordinate measuring and other precision instruments, recording results

Qualifications

• 2 years of prior machine shop inspection experience.
• Aerospace experience preferred.
• Ability to read Blueprints and GD&T tolerancing.
• Experience interpreting aerospace/customer specifications.

Responsibilities

• Inspect partially complete or completed-machined parts and assemblies to assure compliance with drawing requirements.
• Inspect the work of outside processors and/or purchased parts to verify compliance with P.O., applicable specifications and drawing requirements.
• Verify documented dimensions, surface finish, hardness, serialization and lot tracking, part marking, appearance as required.
• Record inspection results in written records and computer database.
• Maintain historical files and notify appropriate parties of results.
• Operate Coordinate Measuring Machine and other technical measuring equipment.
• Review FAI documentation and results for compliance and coordinate corrective actions as needed.

Job description

Monitor and measure quality on close tolerance aerospace machined, metal parts and components. Inspectors are responsible in-process, 1st part, and final dimensional inspection of parts and assemblies.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Know and follow general company and corporate policies and procedures.
• Know, understand, and follow department policies and procedures.
• Meet personal goals and workplace expectations.
• Inspect partially complete or completed-machined parts and assemblies to assure compliance with drawing requirements.
• Inspect the work of outside processors and/or purchased parts to verify compliance with P.O., applicable specifications and drawing requirements. Verify the appropriate documentation is present.
• Typical requirements to be verified include dimensions, surface finish, hardness, serialization and lot tracking, part marking, appearance, etc.
• Record inspection results as required both on written records and computer database.
• Maintain historical files and summary records as required. Notify appropriate parties of results.
• Visual inspection of complex machined parts, and verification of vendor certifications for completeness and accuracy.
• Writing of non-conformance rejection tags.
• Work effectively with others to build teamwork within the Quality function and the Company.
• Operate Coordinate Measuring machine and technical measuring equipment.
• Capture, and interpret maintain SPC and sampling data as required.
• Perform delegated customer inspection duties and required training as needed.
• Review First Article Inspection (FAI) documentation and results to verify compliance with engineering drawings, specifications, purchase orders, and applicable quality standards; identify discrepancies and coordinate corrective actions as needed.

Education and Experience:

• 2 years of prior machine shop Inspection experience.
• Aerospace experience preferred.
• Working knowledge in the use of all basic Inspection equipment
• Demonstrated knowledge in the interpretation and application of aerospace/customer specifications
• Demonstrated proficiency in reading Blueprints and GD&T tolerancing.
• Demonstrated accuracy in setup and use of measuring device.
• Demonstrated accuracy, legibility and organization of written records.
• Demonstrated ability to contribute effectively to a team effort.
• Demonstrated responsiveness to changing priorities.
