Job summary

UCT in Austin, TX is seeking a Quality Inspector I to ensure products meet quality, safety, and customer requirements through detailed inspections throughout the manufacturing process, including receiving, in-process, first article, and final inspections of materials and assemblies. You will verify conformance to drawings, specifications, and procedures.

You will generate inspection reports, identify nonconformances, and collaborate with production, suppliers, and internal teams to uphold

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• 1–2 years in machine shop or clean room settings.
• Semiconductor industry experience preferred.
• Ability to read engineering drawings and specifications.
• Proficient in GD&T and mechanical measurement.

Responsibilities

• Perform mechanical inspections to ensure quality standards.
• Inspect raw materials, components, assemblies, and first article, in-process, and final items.
• Measure parts using micrometers, calipers, and CMM equipment.
• Generate detailed inspection and nonconformance reports.
• Review documents for accuracy and compliance.
• Collaborate with production, suppliers, and internal teams on quality issues.

UCT is looking for a talented Quality Inspector to join us in Austin, TX!

The Quality Inspector I ensures products meet established quality, safety, and customer requirements by performing detailed inspections throughout the manufacturing process. This role conducts receiving, in-process, first article, and final inspections of materials, components, and assemblies, while verifying compliance with engineering drawings, specifications, and documented procedures. By identifying nonconformances, maintaining accurate inspection records, and collaborating with production, suppliers, and internal stakeholders, the Quality Inspector I supports product integrity, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement, helping deliver high-quality products that meet customer expectations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Performs mechanical inspection to ensure all quality aspects of the job are met exactly.
• Inspection includes but is not limited to:
• Raw materials, components, fabricated/manufactured parts & assemblies.
• First Piece/First Article, Receiving/incoming inspection, in-process, final inspection.
• Measures piece parts /components and/or assemblies
• Generates detail inspection and nonconformance reports as necessary.
• Check documents for accuracy and compliance to requirements
• Read and interpret information from engineering drawings, travelers, specifications, and other documents to generate a complete and precise inspection report/record.
• Inspections(s) are internal.
• Interfaces and provides support to other departments, suppliers, and customers on quality related issues as necessary.
• Requires ability to maintain a clean and safe work environment.
• Attain positive results and communication through team effort.
• Strong organizational, problem solving and analytical skills, strong attention to detail.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Good working knowledge of MS Office applications and database software.
• Must be computer literate!
• Basic math abilities.
• Must be able to read and apply production instructions, drawings, BOM schematics, and specifications at a proficient level.
• Proficient in GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance).
• Able to read and interpret specifications, standards, and engineering drawings/Blueprints.
• Proficient in mechanical measurement techniques and workmanship standards related to machining and secondary processes such as paint, power coat, plating, etc.
• Proficient with weld symbols, callouts, wiring and/or crimping requirements.
• Precision sheet metal.
• Proficiency using handheld tools (micrometers, calipers, Optical Comparator and other measuring and test equipment.
• Able to proficiently operate CMM’s and perform basic “CMM” measurements.

Educational/Certification Requirement:

• High School Diploma/equivalent.

Experience Requirement:

Work Experience:

• 1-2 years working in machine shop, assembly clean rooms. Semi-Conductor and/or similar industry.
