Job summary

Crown Holdings, Inc. is seeking a Quality Inspector to evaluate can samples and maintain quality standards across manufacturing processes. The role involves data entry, trend analysis, and audits, with strong attention to detail and accuracy in observations.

You will interact with inspectors, plant employees, and management to communicate findings, ensure compliance with customer standards, and support corrective actions. Long shifts and safety compliance are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; manufacturing QC/QA experience is desirable.
• Attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records.
• Comfort with data entry and basic spreadsheet tasks (Excel).
• Ability to work under time pressure and adapt to schedules.

Responsibilities

• Manage and maintain standards and evaluate can samples.
• Analyze trends and interpret data recorded by technicians and inspectors.
• Perform random inspections of in-process or finished products.
• Conduct planned audits and follow up on complaints to maintain QC standards.
• Provide coverage cross-training for other QC roles when needed.
• Frequent data entry into company databases (AS400, Excel).
• Communicate clearly with inspectors, plant staff, supervisors, and management about quality issues.
• Ensure compliance with company and customer standards and take corrective action.

Job Description: DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Managing and maintaining standards and evaluating can samples;
• Analyzing and interpreting trends, charts dates and conditions as noted and recorded by Can Technicians and Department Inspectors.
• Visually or with gauges, conduct random sample inspections of in-process or finished products.
• Perform planned audits, complaint follow-up to ensure company quality control standards are maintained.
• Provide relief coverage requiring familiarity with and competency in performing all of the requirements of other Quality Inspector positions.
• Will require frequent data entry into select company data bases, including AS400 and basic spreadsheets such as Excel.
• Good verbal and written communication skills when interacting between the inspectors, plant employees, supervisors, and management to communicate needed information relating to quality issues.
• Company and customer standard requirements, demonstrating attention to detail in inspections or in auditing are effectively performed to ensure the best corrective action can be enacted.
• Performs other related duties as required.

Job Requirements QUALIFICATIONS

• Requirements
• Must be a minimum of 18 years old
• High School diploma or G.E.D. equivalency is preferred
• Minimum 6 months’ work experience in Quality Control/Assurance in a manufacturing company is highly desirable
• Prior computer experience is required Excel spreadsheet experience is an asset
• Must possess basic math skills
• Demonstrates strong attention to detail, good record keeping, organization, and precision abilities is essential
• Ability to work under time pressures and flexibility to adjust to sudden work patterns or schedules
• Must demonstrate time management skills and prioritization
• Must have good interpersonal skills and ability to work independently and with teams
• Must have good decision making skills for quarantining out of specification product

Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, use hands, reach with hands and arms, and may be required to balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision and ability to adjust focus. Must be able to stand for long periods as well as work on elevated stationary platforms and withstand extreme climate changes especially during summer and winter months. Must be able to work 12-hour shifts 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. or 6 p.m. to 6 a.m., weekends, and overtime as business needs dictate. Fully comply with all OSHA and WISHA safety rules and regulations.

Working Conditions

Generally works in a manufacturing environment. While performing the duties of this job, the associate may be exposed to moving mechanical parts and vehicular traffic. The associate may be exposed to a wide range of temperatures especially in the summer and winter months. The noise level is frequently loud.
