Job summary

Parker Aerospace in Jacksonville, FL, is seeking a Quality Inspector to join our aerospace quality team. This non-exempt position performs inspection, calibration and nondestructive testing on detailed machined parts, ensuring adherence to specifications and records.

You will read blueprints and manuals, use diverse measuring tools, and contribute to audits and documentation while maintaining a safe, compliant work environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; two years related inspection or NDT experience preferred.
• Must be able to read and interpret blueprints, specifications and internal drawings.
• Certification may be required for NDT methods per MIL‑STD‑410 and PES1‑29.

Responsibilities

• Maintain up‑to‑date acceptance/rejection records and certifications.
• Determine acceptance or rejection after inspection/calibration of parts.
• Perform inspection using measuring/test equipment to verify tolerances and finishes.
• Conduct audits of assembly, machining or test functions for compliance.
• Perform calibration and prepare documentation for calibration history.

Responsibilities

With general guidance in a team environment, responsible for various inspection requirements.

Responsibilities may include some or all of the following:Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date acceptance and rejection records and/or certifications systems as required by the applicable specifications.Determine acceptance or rejection after inspection and/or calibration of parts.Identify defective conditions andtest failures and prepare all appropriate documentation and/or calibration history.

Inspection

Perform inspection on detailed machined parts using a wide variety of measuring and test equipment to determineacceptability or rejections of parts and/or parts finish.Interpret specifications, charts and manuals.Use mathematics to convert blueprint dimensions andtolerances.Work within the guidelines of drawings, schematics, blueprints, route sheets, travelers, qualitydirectives, technical engineering specifications, customers requirements and military standards and/or calibrations procedures.Observe and perform audits of a moderate scope or complexity on assembly and test, machining and other functions for compliance to procedures.

Calibration

Issue to or remove instruments/inspected parts from various areas.Perform calibration of a moderate scope or complexity on various types of measuring and test equipment.Use standards to make moderately complex set‑ups for calibration of measuring and test equipment.

Non‑Destructive Test

Perform daily, weekly and monthly equipment and material checks.Perform pre‑inspection and post‑inspection cleaning.Set‑up equipment and conduct tests.Perform complete inspections in accordance with applicable specifications, standards and other contractual documents.Interpret, evaluate and document inspection results in accordance with approved procedures.Observe all prescribed safety rules and regulations and maintain a FOD free work area.Perform other related responsibilities.

Job Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent. Two years related inspection, calibration or NDT experience or demonstrated ability to perform describedresponsibilities.May be required to be certified as a Level II Nondestructive Test Inspector in magnetic particle inspection and/or liquid penetrant inspection.Certification must be in accordance with MIL‑STD‑410 andPES1‑29.Demonstrated ability to read and interpret blueprints, manufacturers specifications and internal drawings andprocedures.Ability to use and/or calibrate mechanical, hydraulic and electrical instruments/gages.Possess working knowledge of machine shop mathematics.Knowledge of applicable military standards may be required.Personal hand tools may be required.May be required to lift up to 50 lbs.Must demonstrate effective verbal, written and interpersonal communications skills.Ability to work effectively with others and be a participative team player.

Typical Mental and Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the team member is required to walk, stand, and sit for extended periods of time. The team member is required to demonstrate manual dexterity and use hands to operate machinery. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision. Also expected of the team member is regular attendance, and the ability to work cooperatively and professionally with others.
