Job summary

A-1 Machining Company in Connecticut is seeking an experienced Quality Inspector to perform visual and dimensional inspections and ensure parts meet drawings and specifications.

You will use CMMs and other measuring devices, maintain records, prepare inspection reports, and support internal and external customers while upholding ISO9000/AS9100 standards.

The role requires 7–10+ years of experience and strong teamwork, with a focus on accuracy, safety, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• 7–10+ years of experience in quality inspection.
• Experience in ISO9000 or AS9100 quality systems.
• Proficient with GD&T and blueprint reading.
• ERP system experience is a plus.
• Experience with Excel and MS Word.

Responsibilities

• Perform visual and dimensional inspection to close tolerance; conduct first piece and in-process inspections.
• Identify defects to blueprints and quality standards; report NCRs.
• Use CMM tools and other devices to verify dimensions.
• Maintain records, logs, and inspection forms.
• Prepare products and paperwork for customer or source inspector.
• Maintain clean, safe work environment and follow safety procedures.
• Suggest process improvements and participate in 5S programs.
• Provide excellent service to internal and external customers.
• Obtain fixtures and gauging to verify parameters.
• Identify out-of-tolerance conditions and report via NCR.
• Inspect purchased materials and certifications; ensure PO compliance.
• Participate in training and other duties as assigned.

Job description

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform visual and dimensional inspection of various mechanical components and assemblies to close tolerance. Perform first piece and in-process inspection in assigned value stream.
• Identify defects in surface, dimensional, visual and non-conformities (material, documentation and workmanship) to blueprints and quality standards. Report non-conformance of materials or unusual conditions to Quality Supervisor and Manufacturing Manager.
• Use a variety of conventional and advanced inspection devices, CMM tools and instruments to verify dimensions to drawing specifications.
• Maintain records, data and logs as necessary. Create inspection forms such as IMS, first article and other related forms.
• Prepare products and related paperwork for presentation to customer or source inspector.
• Maintain clean and safe work environment. Follow safety and environmental procedures and regulations. Report safety incidents to supervisor.
• Make recommendations for improvements to work processes and procedures. Contribute to 5S programs in work area.
• Provide a high level of service to all internal and external customers. Contribute to positive teamwork environment.
• Obtain necessary fixtures and gauging to verify that the parts are within the specified parameters.
• Select gauging to minimize repeatability and reproducibility of the measured parameters
• Identify out-of-tolerance conditions and report them via a nonconforming material report (NCR).
• Inspection of purchased materials and components, verification of certifications and test reports. Assure compliance to PO requirements.
• Perform other duties as assigned. Participate in training/learning other positions. Accomplish related results as needed.

Requirements:

• Solid knowledge of GD & T
• Working knowledge of measuring tools and devices
• Interpret blueprints

• Communicate effectively
• Working knowledge of MS Word and MS Excel
• High sense of urgency and ability to meet schedule requirements

Education and Experience:

• 7-10 plus years' experience
• Experience working in an ISO9000 or AS9100 quality system.

Experience using Microsoft Excel, Work and Outlook. ERP system experience a plus.
