Job summary

RRD is seeking a quality control inspector to perform visual inspection of printed materials and ensure conformance to customer specifications. You will follow SOPs, document defects, and communicate findings to manufacturing leadership while supporting continuous improvement initiatives.

The role requires 2+ years in a printing QC/QA environment, strong communication, and solid organizational skills to manage deadlines and collaborate with teams across production and quality.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• 2+ years of experience in a quality control/assurance function in a printing environment required.
• Knowledge of general administrative and manufacturing operations procedures relevant to the role.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills to explain quality policies and procedures.
• Excellent organizational skills to meet deadlines and coordinate with others.

Job Description

Performs visual inspection of printed materials for defects. Ensure products meet quality conformance specified by customer.

Responsibilities:

• Perform “samples” selection and package for shipment.
• Perform visual inspection of random samples of product selected during a production run, or post production, looking for a variety of possible defects such as ragged edges, torn or wrinkled pages, incomplete cuts, incorrect bindings, smeared or blotched colors, dirt on the product, and any other visual defect that is out of specification.
• Follows inspection checklist and records any identified defects.
• Follow established quality Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) to ensure product meets quality conformance specified by the customer.
• Prepares written reports and provides notification to manufacturing management of known or found defects.
• Identify potential issues and involve department Lead and/or management to determine an appropriate solution.
• May assist with special projects or more complex customer orders.
• May assist with disposition of defective or non-conforming product.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Training and mentoring new and existing employees, ensuring consistent knowledge of company policies, procedures, and best practices to improve team performance and productivity

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred
• 2 or more years of experience in a quality control/assurance function in a printing environment required
• Requires good knowledge of general administrative and manufacturing operations procedures and knowledge of job specific processes key to successfully execute and complete the duties of the job.
• Strong oral and written communication skills sufficient to explain quality policy, methods and/or procedures when completing assignments, as well as provide a level of detail required to resolve issues.
• Requires very good organizational skills sufficient to accomplish work by established deadlines and ability to coordinate phases of work with others.

The salary range for this role at the noted RRD location is $17.00 - $22.67 / hour. Starting pay decisions are determined based on multiple factors including but not limited to relevant education, qualifications, skills, experience, certifications, proficiency, performance, shift, location, and other business needs. Typically, roles follow step progressions to a target rate or set increments over time. Depending on the role, in addition to the hourly rate of pay, the total compensation package may also include overtime, shift differential, call-in, and/or stand-by pay.
