Job summary

SMC Ltd is seeking a Quality Inspector to monitor in-process production through visual, dimensional, and functional inspections, ensuring compliance with procedures. The role requires attention to detail and accurate data recording.

You will use calipers and other measuring devices, document results, and support continuous improvement while working swing shift 3:00pm to 11:30pm in a clean, climate-controlled environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum of 1-year prior experience in Quality Control.
• Experience with precision measuring equipment.
• Blueprint interpretation skills.
• Must have computer skills and familiarity with Word and Excel programs.
• Knowledge of SPC and ISO 9001 & 13485 system requirements.
• Ability to pay close attention to detail.
• Ability to read, write and communicate in English.

Responsibilities

• Perform visual, dimensional and functional inspections in accordance with In-Process inspection procedures.
• Dimensionally inspect product utilizing various measuring devices, such as calipers.
• Document inspection data on appropriate records.
• Utilize computer to record and calculate statistical data.
• Regular attendance and professionalism.
• Record shift highlights in log book.
• Follow procedures for retaining samples.
• Notify foreperson of any non-conformances and follow product rejection procedures.
• Maintain cleanliness of work areas and Quality Control equipment.
• Generate labels for daily production at the start of each shift if required.
• Coordinate Daily MRB Product evaluation or reject Reporting.
• Supervise the rework of nonconforming products in the hold area and perform final inspection on reworked product if instructed.
• Participate in production meetings and provide quality status of production if required.
• Other duties as assigned.

Desirable Qualifications

• Experience within medical device manufacturing.
• Minimum of 1 year experience in Plastic Injection Molding Environment

• Stand, walk, bend, squat, twist, reach or otherwise move frequently
• Occasional repetitive motion and grasping
• Occasional climbing to reach areas on machines or racks
• Lift, move or otherwise transfer up to 50 lbs. occasionally, >20 lbs. frequently
• Typically sits, grasps items or performs keyboarding for occasional operation of a computer
• Exposure to typical machine shop physical hazards which may require respiratory protection
• Travel by air or car frequently
