We are looking for an Aerospace Inspector to perform 1st piece, in-process and final inspection on aircraft engine components for compliance with engineering drawings, customer requirements and company specifications before or after manufacturing processes. This role includes performing inspection procedures including checking dimensions of surfaces and holes, assessing finish, and detecting nonconformances. The inspector will approve items within specifications and recommend disposition for items not meeting standards, verify identification of parts and suppliers (internal or outside).

Ability to visually, dimensionally and final inspect major rotating components such as disks, shafts, air seals drums, and hubs. Collaborate with shop personnel to assist operators in setting up gauges and performing in-process inspections. Knowledge of calibrated tooling and equipment as well as CMM experience is critical. Extensive knowledge of FAA inspection criteria is essential.

Reports to: Quality Supervisor/Manager

Responsibilities
  • Obtain blueprints and the item’s specification sheet for the order.
  • Review internal operation sheets against customer blueprints.
  • Determine inspection procedures to verify specifications and dimensions.
  • Obtain fixtures, gauges, and indicators to check parts for compliance within prescribed tolerances.
  • Complete assurance checklists during the process and perform dimensional checks of parts as needed.
  • Reject unacceptable items, document nonconformances, and move parts to quality control.
  • Complete required company paperwork on machined parts inspection activity.
  • Read and understand work instructions such as Op Sheets, Engine Manuals, and Customer Purchase Order Requirements.
  • Use measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, swing gauges, etc.
  • Document all inspections (Receiving, In-Process, Final) accurately and coordinate with operators to ensure requirements are met.
  • Communicate with co-workers and supervisors to receive instructions and guidance.
  • Organize and maintain inspection department and gaging methods.
  • Work independently and efficiently to meet customer requirements.
  • Assist in inspecting incoming parts and aid in expediting shipment of critical parts.
  • Read and comprehend instructions, memos, and adapt to different inspection methods.
  • Adhere to safety and housekeeping standards.
  • Perform other duties as required and participate in training as needed.
  • Travel up to 5-10% domestically.
Required Qualifications
  • Must be a “US Person” as defined by US Government and able to work with ITAR data.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 5+ years’ experience as an aerospace part inspector or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to use measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, swing gauges, etc.
  • Knowledge of blueprint reading and machinery limitations.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Visual acuity to read machine dials, gauges, Op sheets and precision measuring equipment.
  • Ability to read, write, understand, and speak English at a functional level.
Preferred Qualifications
  • CMM experience with PC-DMIS preferred.
