Quality Inspector

Primary Objective

To ensure product integrity and customer satisfaction by auditing manufacturing procedures, inspecting work-in-process and finished goods, and verifying that all components meet strict technical specifications.

Key Responsibilities
  • Technical Inspection: Use precision measuring instruments and blueprint reading skills to verify dimensions, clearances, and tolerances.
  • Process Auditing: Monitor standard work procedures, verify the accuracy of production gauges, and audit incoming supplier materials.
  • Quality Reporting: Document findings, prepare itemized reports, and initiate corrective actions or problem resolution for non-conforming products.
  • Communication: Interface across all levels of plant personnel to report findings and respond to inquiries from management.
Technical & Skills Requirements
  • Mathematics: Strong proficiency in calculating proportions, percentages, fractions, and ratios for practical technical applications.
  • Analytical Thinking: Ability to interpret complex technical instructions, solve practical problems with limited standardization, and draw valid conclusions from collected data.
  • Blueprints: High-level ability to read and interpret technical specifications and diagrams.
  • Computer Literacy: Proficient in data entry and report generation.
Physical & Working Conditions
  • Physicality: Frequent standing, walking, and climbing stairs; must be able to lift up to 35 lbs.
  • Environment: A typical manufacturing shop floor with moderate noise levels and limited physical risk.
  • PPE: Mandatory steel/composite-toed boots and eye protection.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Background: High school diploma required; experience in metal stamping, brake, or welding environments is highly preferred.
  • Preference: Previous experience in Quality Inspection is a significant advantage.
  • Certifications: Ability to obtain QI blueprint and math skill certifications.
