EXPLEO GROUP USA in North Carolina is seeking a Quality Inspector (Aerospace) to support aerospace manufacturing and assembly operations. You will inspect aircraft components and assemblies to ensure compliance with engineering drawings, specifications, and quality requirements in a highly regulated environment.

The role requires FAI and in-process inspections, dimensional verification with precision measuring tools, and a commitment to safety, quality, and on-time program delivery.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Associate degree preferred in Quality, Manufacturing or Engineering Technology.
  • 3+ years of aerospace quality inspection experience or in a similarly regulated industry.

Responsibilities

  • Perform detailed inspections of aerospace panels, assemblies and components to ensure compliance with drawings and quality standards.
  • Conduct First Article Inspections (FAI) and in-process inspections per AS9102.
  • Verify dimensional accuracy using precision measuring equipment and inspect for conformance to customer and regulatory requirements.
  • Review manufacturing documentation and acceptance criteria for completeness and accuracy.
  • Identify and document non-conformances and support corrective action processes.

Overview

EXPLEO GROUP USA is currently looking for a Quality Inspector (Aerospace) to join our team for an exciting new opportunity in Kinston, North Carolina.

The Quality Inspector will play a key role in supporting aerospace manufacturing and assembly operations by ensuring aircraft components, structures, and assemblies meet engineering, customer, and regulatory quality requirements. This position offers the opportunity to work in a highly regulated aerospace environment where quality, safety, and precision are critical to program success.

Responsibilities
Inspection & Quality Assurance
  • Perform detailed inspections of aerospace panels, assemblies, and manufactured components to ensure compliance with engineering drawings, specifications, and quality standards
  • Conduct First Article Inspections (FAI) and in-process inspections in accordance with AS9102 requirements
  • Verify dimensional accuracy, workmanship, damage tolerance, defect identification, and Foreign Object Debris (FOD) compliance
  • Perform visual, mechanical, and dimensional inspections using precision measuring equipment
  • Confirm completed products meet customer, regulatory, and internal quality requirements
  • Review manufacturing documentation, work instructions, inspection records, and acceptance criteria for completeness and accuracy
Non-Conformance & Corrective Actions
  • Identify, document, and report non-conforming materials, products, and processes
  • Support root cause investigations and corrective action activities related to quality findings
  • Participate in MRB, NCR, CAPA, and corrective action processes as required
  • Collaborate with quality, manufacturing, and engineering teams to ensure timely resolution of quality concerns
Quality Compliance & Continuous Improvement
  • Monitor manufacturing areas for Foreign Object Debris (FOD) prevention and housekeeping compliance
  • Maintain accurate inspection records and quality documentation in accordance with aerospace standards
  • Support adherence to AS9100, AS9102, and applicable customer quality requirements
  • Promote a culture of quality, safety, and continuous improvement throughout the facility
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Associate degree in Quality, Manufacturing, Engineering Technology, or a related discipline preferred
  • 3+ years of quality inspection experience within aerospace, aviation, defense, manufacturing, or other highly regulated industries
  • Experience inspecting aerospace composite panels, aircraft structures, metallic components, or aerospace assemblies
  • Strong understanding of aerospace quality standards, inspection methods, and quality assurance processes
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, specifications, and manufacturing documentation
  • Experience performing First Article Inspections (FAI) and in-process inspections
  • Hands-on experience using precision measurement equipment including calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and related inspection tools
  • Ability to identify, document, and disposition non-conformances in accordance with aerospace quality requirements
  • Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and commitment to quality excellence
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting Airbus A350 manufacturing, assembly, inspection, or quality programs
  • Experience inspecting Airbus A350 fuselage panels, composite panels, or structural assemblies
  • Experience working within Airbus quality systems and manufacturing environments
  • AS9100 and AS9102 experience
  • Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) certifications or experience
  • ASQ Certified Quality Inspector (CQI) certification
  • Experience with MRB, NCR, CAPA, and corrective action processes
  • Familiarity with aerospace ERP, MES, or Quality Management Systems
  • Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement experience
  • Aerospace quality certifications or specialized inspection training

  • Competitive Compensation – $25 - $36 hourly or $52,000 - $75,000 annually. Please note that the compensation range displayed is a generalized range for pipelining purposes and may not reflect the final range for a specific role. Final compensation will be determined based on the role, skill alignment, years of experience, and fair, market-based rates by geography.
