POSITION SUMMARY

The Quality Inspector I performs receiving, in-process, and final inspections of materials, components, and finished products to verify conformance with engineering standards, applicable specifications, drawings, and production procedures. The position identifies and documents defects and non-conforming product, maintains inspection records, supports RMA and deviation processes, and works with Production and other internal teams to help maintain product quality. This role requires strong attention to detail, organization, and the ability to work independently within established inspection procedures.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Perform receiving, in-process, and final inspections of materials, components, and finished products to verify conformance with established requirements.
  • Execute and adhere to established inspection processes, procedures, engineering standards, specifications, and production requirements.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, part drawings, specifications, and other applicable quality documentation.
  • Use assigned tooling, gauges, measuring devices, and inspection methods correctly and consistently.
  • Identify, document, segregate, and control non-conforming material or product in accordance with established procedures.
  • Report quality issues, defects, trends, or inspection findings to the Quality Manager and appropriate internal team members.
  • Complete inspection records, quality paperwork, system entries, and other required documentation accurately and on time.
  • Maintain designated non-conforming material areas and support timely review and disposition of held product.
  • Process returned material/RMAs as assigned, including physical handling, inspection documentation, and required MRP system transactions.
  • Prepare and complete deviation documentation when required and route documentation to the appropriate parties.
  • Move or coordinate the movement of parts and related documentation to Production, Quality, Engineering, Inventory, or other areas as needed.
  • Follow up on identified quality issues to confirm that required actions or dispositions are completed.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with Production, Quality, Engineering, Maintenance, Safety, and leadership as needed.
  • Perform all work safely while maintaining a high standard of quality, organization, and attention to detail.
  • Maintain inspection areas, tools, gauges, records, and workspaces in an organized condition.
  • Work off-shifts, weekends, or overtime when required by business needs.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to identify defects, discrepancies, and conditions that do not conform to requirements.
  • Ability to read and accurately interpret blueprints, part drawings, engineering specifications, and inspection requirements applicable to assigned work.
  • Working knowledge of inspection tooling, gauges, measuring devices, specifications, and established inspection procedures.
  • Intermediate math, language, and analytical-reasoning skills.
  • Ability to accurately document findings and maintain organized inspection and quality records.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook and ability to complete required MRP or quality-system transactions.
  • Strong communication, teamwork, organization, time-management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment with minimal supervision.
  • Strong sense of urgency, sound judgment, and commitment to safety and product quality.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in a quality control, quality assurance, inspection, or closely related manufacturing quality role.
  • Demonstrated intermediate-level skills in math, language, and analytical reasoning.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and part drawings.
  • Experience using inspection tooling, gauges, specifications, and established inspection procedures.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Experience working in a manufacturing or production environment is required.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Stand and walk on concrete or other hard surfaces for extended periods, including periods of up to 8–10 hours during a shift.
  • Frequently use hands and fingers to handle parts, inspection tools, gauges, documents, keyboards, and controls and to perform repetitive inspection and measurement activities.
  • Frequently reach with hands and arms to move, position, rotate, or manipulate materials, components, and products for inspection.
  • Regularly bend and twist; occasionally stoop, kneel, crouch, squat, crawl, climb, or balance as required to access or inspect parts and products.
  • Frequently lift and/or move items up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move items up to 50 pounds. Team lifting or mechanical assistance must be used when the size, shape, or weight of an item makes individual handling unsafe.
  • Maintain sufficient close and distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus to perform visual inspections, read drawings and labels, and use measuring devices accurately.
  • Hear and communicate sufficiently to receive instructions, recognize alarms or warning signals, and communicate effectively in a manufacturing environment, with hearing protection when required.
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND SAFETY
  • Work is performed primarily in an industrial manufacturing and quality-inspection environment and may involve work near moving mechanical parts, production equipment, stored materials, and elevated or difficult-to-access inspection points.
  • The facility is not fully climate controlled. Employees may be exposed to heat, cold, humidity, and temperature changes.
  • Noise levels may be loud, and employees may be exposed to vibration, airborne particles, dust, oils, or other materials associated with manufacturing operations.
  • Required PPE may include safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, safety-toe footwear, high-visibility clothing, or other task-specific protection as designated by Aero.
  • Employees are expected to follow all applicable safety procedures, properly use inspection equipment and PPE, report hazards or near misses, and immediately report unsafe conditions.
POSITION TYPE / EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK

This is a full-time, onsite position. The regular schedule is based on business and Quality department needs. Flexibility to work off-shifts, overtime, or weekends may be required.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY

This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities.

TRAVEL

No regular travel is expected for this position.
