Our founding team comes from the AI labs at Stanford and Carnegie Mellon and our board of directors include famed robotics and AI legends including Fei-Fei Li (Chief Scientist of AI at Google and Director of Stanford’s AI Lab), Marc Raibert (founder of Boston Dynamics), and Sebastian Thrun (founder of GoogleX, Waymo; Stanford Professor and considered the father of autonomous vehicles).

At Nimble, we are committed to building legendary products, a legendary team, and a legendary legacy. Join us and become part of an ambitious, humble, and resourceful culture where your work will leave a lasting impact on the future of robotics and commerce.

The Role

We are seeking a detail-oriented Manufacturing Quality Inspector to ensure our robotic assemblies are built to the highest standards of quality, precision, and reliability. In this role, you will perform in-process and final inspections on mechanical and electromechanical assemblies, verifying conformance to engineering drawings, specifications, and workmanship standards. You will play a critical part in maintaining product integrity by identifying nonconformances, supporting root cause investigations, and collaborating closely with production and engineering teams.

The ideal candidate has strong mechanical aptitude, experience inspecting complex assemblies, and a commitment to continuous improvement. Your work will directly impact the performance, safety, and long-term reliability of advanced robotic systems.

Responsibilities
  • Incoming Inspection: Inspect received materials against drawings and specifications, and release conforming material to stock.
  • In-Process and Final Inspection: Perform in-process and final inspections of mechanical and electromechanical assemblies to verify conformance to workmanship standards.
  • Production Escalation Response: Serve as the first point of contact for quality issues raised by assemblers, assessing the part at the station and determining immediate containment.
  • Issue Triage: Determine whether an escalation is resolved on the floor or requires engineering support, and coordinate the path forward with the relevant team.
  • Dimensional Verification: Verify dimensions using precision measuring tools including calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and dial indicators.
  • Drawing Interpretation: Interpret engineering drawings, GD&T callouts, and specifications to establish inspection criteria.
  • Material Disposition: Place nonconforming material on quality hold and route to MRB with supporting measurement data.
  • MRB Participation: Participate in weekly material review board meetings and present dispositions for open quality holds.
  • Documentation: Maintain inspection records, measurement data, and quality documentation in the company’s MES and ERP systems.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent, plus 3+ years in a manufacturing quality role; ASQ Certified Quality Inspector (CQI) preferred
  • Working knowledge of GD&T to establish inspection criteria from a drawing
  • Familiarity with sampling-based lot acceptance, including inspection of both machined components and electromechanical assemblies
  • Able to describe a quality issue in writing — scope, quantity affected, containment taken — clearly enough for production to act on immediately
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Proven ability to collaborate cross-functionally

Compensation
