Job summary

Owens Corning is seeking a Quality Inspector for third shift (Mon–Fri, 11:00pm–7:30am) in Fort Mill, SC. The role focuses on recording production and scrap, verifying quality to customer specs, and supporting manufacturing to root out issues. The ideal candidate has basic math skills, reads English, and works well in a team on a fast-paced line.

Responsibilities include assembling door shells, conducting end-of-line inspections, and maintaining safety and 5S practices on the factory floor.

3rd Shift: Monday - Friday 11:00pm - 7:30am

Pay Rate: $19 per hour

Brief Description

The quality inspector is responsible for recording production and scrap and verifying production quality by specifications set by our customers.

Main Responsibilities

• Records all production and scrap into Masterpack accurately.
• Verifies quality of production specifications through measurements and visual inspection techniques.
• Coordinates work of associates performing operations that follow the foaming process. Acts as a problems solver to not only identify quality issues, but support manufacturing efforts to remove the root cause.
• Manually assembles door shells using pneumatic and manual tools in a fast-paced environment, ensuring correct components are used.
• Performs end-of-end the line and in-process inspections.
• Completes daily checklist, recording information such as dimensional specifications of finished slab. To ensure identification of issues that may prevent maximum machine productivity and product quality expectations.
• Follows work instructions and pays attention to details.
• Follows safety and PPE procedures and reports violations to supervisor, leads, and/or to safety.
• Achieves/performs daily targets and output of production.
• Meets quality standards for the line.
• Follows work practices that are in the guidelines of OSHA standards.
• Follows all Environmental Health and Safety rules and ISO requirements.
• Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with 5s requirements, rules, and regulations.
• Must be able to work required overtime as needed.
• Work with members of leadership and quality to solve issues.
• Other duties may be assigned as needed.

Position Requirements

• Education:
• High school diploma or GED preferred but not required.
• Experience:
• Previous manufacturing experience preferred but not required.
• Able to read and write in English preferred but not required.
• Basic math skills with ability to perform basic math calculations, such as, addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. Plus, knowledge of fractions and decimals.
• Ability to read a tape measure accurately.
• Ability to compare actual measurements to specifications and determine if finished product is acceptable quality.
• Able to read and interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule format.
• Ability to work in a team environment; good interpersonal skills.
• Ability to adapt quickly and effectively to change.
• Good hand/eye coordination.
• Language:
• Ability to understand English preferred but not required.
