Responsibilities

  • Inspect, test, package, and label incoming raw materials according to procedures.
  • Perform visual inspections to verify quality specifications.
  • Verify incoming materials, labels, and documentation for accuracy.
  • Identify nonconforming materials and communicate with Purchasing/Production/Quality.
  • Record inspection findings in the quality management system and maintain documentation.
  • Support rework, testing, filing, and other quality tasks as assigned.
  • Assist with outgoing material inspections to meet customer requirements.
  • Follow SOPs and customer specs; maintain records.

Job description

The Quality Receiving Inspector I supports the Quality Department by inspecting incoming raw materials and outgoing products to ensure they meet company, customer, and regulatory quality standards. This role is responsible for performing inspections, documenting results, identifying nonconforming materials, and working closely with Purchasing, Production, and Quality teams to maintain product integrity and support manufacturing operations.

Key Responsibilities
Receiving Inspection
  • Inspect, test, package, and label incoming raw materials according to established procedures.
  • Perform visual inspections to verify materials meet quality specifications and acceptance criteria.
  • Verify incoming materials, labels, and supporting documentation for accuracy and compliance.
  • Identify and communicate nonconforming materials to Purchasing, Production, and Quality departments.
  • Record inspection findings accurately in the quality management system and maintain complete documentation.
  • Assist with rework, special testing, filing, and other quality-related tasks as assigned.
  • Support outgoing material inspections as required to ensure customer requirements are met.
Quality & Documentation
  • Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and customer specifications.
  • Maintain accurate inspection records and quality documentation.
  • Understand and apply basic laboratory terminology, testing methods, and measurement techniques.
  • Perform metric and standard unit conversions when necessary.
Safety & Housekeeping
  • Follow all company safety policies and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Properly handle and dispose of hazardous materials and waste.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area using a "clean as you go" approach.
  • Support a safe working environment by complying with all environmental, health, and safety requirements.
Qualifications
Education
  • High school diploma or GED required.
Experience
  • Previous experience in manufacturing, production, quality inspection, or composite materials preferred.
  • Entry-level candidates with less than one year of related experience are encouraged to apply.
Required Skills
  • Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Knowledge of basic weights and measurements, including metric and standard units.

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and perform repetitive tasks throughout the workday.
  • Ability to work overtime, weekends, and alternate shifts as business needs require.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience using quality inspection equipment or laboratory tools.
  • Familiarity with quality management systems and inspection documentation.
  • Experience working in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
