Job summary

MATTR, based in Fairfield, OH, is seeking a Quality Inspector to protect product quality and support reliable manufacturing operations. You will perform inspections and testing, prepare Certificates of Analysis, review material COAs and COCs, and document findings to enable corrective actions.

The role collaborates with Production, Purchasing, and QA teams, requires 3–5 years in manufacturing quality control, proficiency with measurement tools, and a keen eye for detail in a fast-paced

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 3–5 years in manufacturing quality inspection.
  • Experience with inspection equipment: Hot Set, Melt Index, Optical Comparator/Shadowgraph, Calipers, Micrometers.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and data management tools.
  • IATF 16949 experience (preferred).
  • Certificates: Certified Auditor, Quality Technician (preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Perform laboratory and production floor testing using inspection equipment.
  • Inspect materials and finished products for quality compliance.
  • Prepare Certificates of Analysis for tested materials and products.
  • Review incoming raw material COAs and Certificates of Conformance.
  • Identify and escalate nonconforming products or processes for corrective action.
  • Audit production processes for quality standards compliance.
  • Support calibration and equipment verification activities.
  • Maintain organized quality records.
  • Collaborate with Production, Purchasing, and QA teams to address quality concerns.

Summary

As a Quality Inspector, you will play a critical role in protecting product quality and supporting reliable manufacturing operations. Success in this role is measured by your ability to identify nonconforming products and processes, perform accurate inspections and testing, maintain quality documentation, and support corrective actions that help ensure consistent product excellence. Your contributions will help contain quality concerns internally, strengthen quality control practices, and support operational performance across the facility.

Responsibilities
Perform Quality Inspection and Testing
  • Conduct laboratory and production floor testing using Hot Set, Melt Index, Optical Comparator/Shadowgraph, Calipers, Micrometers, and other inspection equipment as required.
  • Inspect materials and finished products to verify compliance with quality requirements.
  • Prepare Certificates of Analysis for tested materials and products.
  • Review and approve incoming raw material Certificates of Analysis and Certificates of Conformance.
  • Identify, document, and elevate nonconforming products or processes for corrective action.
Support Nonconformance and Corrective Actions
  • Assist with corrective and preventive action activities through accurate testing, inspection, and documentation.
  • Facilitate the closure of internal Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs).
  • Provide quality data and information needed to investigate and resolve product and process concerns.
  • Help ensure nonconforming products and processes are identified, contained, and properly addressed.
Ensure Process Compliance
  • Audit production processes to verify compliance with established quality standards and requirements.
  • Support calibration compliance and equipment verification activities.
  • Confirm inspection and testing equipment is properly verified and suitable for use.
  • Maintain accurate and organized quality records.
Support Quality Improvement Activities
  • Collect, compile, and analyze quality data.
  • Assist in the development and improvement of testing methods.
  • Support the creation and maintenance of inspection plans.
  • Utilize Microsoft Office, SharePoint and other software tools to complete quality-related activities.
Collaborate Across the Business
  • Work closely with Production Supervisors regarding inspections, quality concerns, and production priorities.
  • Communicate with Purchasing and Supply Chain teams regarding supplier quality concerns.
  • Collaborate with Quality Assurance and HSE teams to support continuous improvement, compliance, and workplace safety initiatives.
Qualifications
Required
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in manufacturing quality inspection or quality control
  • Working knowledge of inspection and laboratory equipment, including: Hot Set, Melt Index, Optical Comparator/Shadowgraph, Calipers, Micrometers
  • Ability to accurately inspect, test, document, and evaluate product quality requirements.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and data management tools.
Preferred
  • IATF 16949 Experience
  • Certificates: Certified Auditor, Quality Technician
Additional Skills
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, and quality requirements.
  • Strong understanding of measurement tools and inspection methodologies.
  • Effective organizational, documentation, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a production, laboratory, and office environment while maintaining attention to detail and accuracy.
