Job summary

Horst Engineering & Manufacturing Company is hiring a Quality Inspector for 1st or 2nd shift at our East Hartford, CT plant. The role is 100% in-office and focuses on verification of first-piece conformance to documentation and supplier requirements.

Responsibilities include layout inspection, interpreting blueprints, and supporting manufacturing with dimensional issues. Benefits include PTO, holidays, 401K match, and health benefits.

Qualifications

• Must read and interpret operation sheets, blueprints, and customer specifications.
• Able to comment in writing and communicate quality issues clearly.
• Strong analytical and shop math skills with GD&T understanding.

Responsibilities

• Performs layout inspection on all levels of manufactured parts.
• Ensures parts meet blueprints, operation sheets, or other specifications.
• Prioritizes assignments within the quality inspection area.
• Interacts with all levels of staff regarding quality issues.
• Verifies rejections before submitting to quality clinic.
• Acts as liaison between Quality and Engineering for communication.
• Performs all responsibilities of a Quality Inspector.
• Creates FAI documentation and IMS forms as required.
• Performs other related duties as required.

Job Summary:

The Quality Inspector verifies manufacturing first piece for conformance to controlled documentation as well as supplier's conformance to purchase order requirements and controlled documentation. Support's manufacturing associates in solving dimensional verification issues and acts as the company resource for all departments regarding inspection methodology, technique, gaging and process specification interpretation.

This role is for 1st or 2nd shift. 1st shift is 7am-3:30. 3:00 - 11:30

This role is 100% in office at our plant in East Hartford, CT.

Essential Job Duties:

• Performs layout inspection on all levels of manufactured parts.
• Using knowledge of best quality practices and manufacturing methods, ensures manufactured parts meet blueprint, operation sheet, or other specification requirements.
• Prioritizes job assignments within quality inspection area.
• Interacts with all levels of associates regarding quality issues.
• Verify rejections prior to submitting to quality clinic.
• Liaison between Quality and Engineering to facilitate communication and activity.
• Performs all the responsibilities of a Quality Inspector.
• Responsible for creation of documentation related to FAI forms and submission as required, creation of Inspection Method Sheet (IMS) forms and perform duties related.
• Performs other related duties as required.

Experience & Skills:

• College degree or High School diploma/GED and equivalent work experience.
• Must be able to read and write comments. Interpret and understand operation sheets/blueprints, purchase orders, specifications, and all applicable Company/Customer paperwork.
• Strong verbal and interpersonal skills as well as strong analytical and shop math skills.
• Able to interpret blueprints and apply geometric dimensioning and tolerance requirements.
• Identify areas of opportunity for improvement (departmental and individual) and suggest changes. Skilled in the use of inspection gaging (micrometer, caliper, height stand, indicator, optical comparator, tri-roll type gaging, Keyence Scanning, etc.)
