Position Overview
Wheeler Staffing Partners is seeking a detail-oriented Quality Inspector for a full-time contract opportunity in Dallas, TX. This position is responsible for performing in-process and final inspections, product testing, and quality documentation to ensure materials and finished products meet customer specifications and established quality standards. The Quality Inspector will work with fiber optic products, measurement and testing equipment, engineering drawings, and light manufacturing equipment. The ideal candidate has at least 1-2 years of quality inspection, quality control, or product testing experience within a manufacturing or production environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform in-process and final quality inspections on materials and finished products.
- Conduct interferometer inspections, insertion loss testing, return loss testing, end-face analysis, and visual inspections.
- Perform product testing to verify compliance with customer specifications and quality requirements.
- Collect, enter, and maintain accurate inspection and testing data.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and quality documentation.
- Identify, document, and communicate product defects and quality issues.
- Operate or learn to operate cable measuring and cutting machines, labeling equipment, curing ovens, connector polishing machines, and visual inspection equipment.
- Use hand tools for cable cutting, stripping, and light mechanical assembly.
- Maintain accuracy and attention to detail throughout inspection and testing processes.
- Follow established quality, safety, and production procedures.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 1-2+ years of quality inspection, quality control, or product testing experience in a manufacturing or production environment.
- Experience using measurement and test equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to product quality.
- Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to meet deadlines and work effectively in a production environment.
- Ability to work 100% onsite in Dallas, TX and accommodate occasional evening or weekend work as required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with fiber optic cable manufacturing, inspection, or testing.
- Experience with OptoTest, VIAVI, JDSU, or similar fiber optic testing equipment.
- Knowledge of insertion loss, return loss, interferometry, connector polishing, or fiber end-face inspection.
- Experience with SAP Business One and Microsoft SharePoint.
- Experience in light manufacturing, cable assembly, or related production environments.
Physical & Work Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout the work environment for extended periods.
- Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, and work in confined spaces as required.
- Ability to occasionally lift, carry, push, or pull up to 25 pounds and up to 50 pounds as required.
- Ability to perform detailed visual inspections for defects, labeling discrepancies, cable routing issues, and equipment concerns.
- Ability to distinguish colors for cable identification, status indicators, safety markings, and quality verification.
- Ability to maintain visual focus on detailed inspection work for prolonged periods.
- Work primarily within an office and light manufacturing environment.
