Job summary

AMETEK, Inc. is seeking a Quality Inspector in Bridgeport, CT to perform dimensional and functional inspections of in-process, incoming, and finished products to customer specifications.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum 1 year as an operator/inspector.

Responsibilities

  • Perform dimensional and functional inspection per customer specs using precision measuring tools.
  • Inspect in-process, incoming, and finished products.
  • Calibrate gauging and measuring equipment; operate CMMs if required.
  • Maintain accurate records and reports.
  • Adhere to safety rules and PPE.

Job Description:

As the Quality Inspector you will perform dimensional and functional inspection of in process, incoming, and finished products to customer specification under the direction of the Supervisor using precision measuring equipment, hand tools, and various types of gauging. Also, performs inspection and calibration of various types of gauging and precision measuring equipment. May also include operation and qualification of CMMs, perthometers, profilometers, gear inspection equipment, and roundness testing equipment.

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned to meet and exceed commitments .

  • Observe all safety rules and regulations including wearing personal protective equipment.
  • Assist in team performance for quality, cost, and continuous improvement.
  • Performs duties to instruct, direct, assist, and participate in activities of in-process, final inspection, and data collection.
  • Examine/measure instruments for wear; record need for reconditioning, repair or replacement, clean or calibrate.
  • Able to work from written instructions, prints, specifications, formulas, statistical data, and verbal instructions. .
  • Conduct reproducibility and reliability studies on gages, as directed.
  • Work as a team to assure that customer requirements are met, and services are provided in a timely manner.
  • Maintain instructions and records for receiving and final audit in accordance with internal and customer specifications.
  • Check required quantities, dimensions, characteristics, finishes; check gauging, prints and charts for accuracy.
  • Accurately complete required reports and records to adhere to customer requirements.
  • Participate in department and cross functional Level 3 improvement efforts.
  • Adhere to schedule changes to meet customer needs.
  • Participate in the layered process audit program, assure that assigned audits are completed on-time.
  • Exercise proper care in use of tools, equipment, and materials.
  • Assist in the training of other associates in procedures and use of equipment.
  • Maintain work area in a clean and safe condition.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or directed.

Education and/or Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of one year as an operator/inspector, inspecting and measuring precision machined components

Skills, Abilities, and Other Requirements

  • Ability to use various types of gauges (micrometers, pin, ring, thread, snap, etc.)
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings features
  • Must be detail oriented and customer focused
  • Able to follow directions, work instructions and procedures
Compensation

Employee Type: Hourly

Currency: USD

Salary Minimum: 35,000

Salary Maximum: 40,000
