Job summary

VPT, Inc. is seeking a full-time Quality Inspector in Blacksburg, VA to perform in-line inspections of mission-critical electronic subassemblies, PCBAs, and final power conversion products.

The role reports to the Quality Assurance Manager and ensures compliance with space and military workmanship standards. Responsibilities include visual, microscopic, and dimensional inspections, documentation of findings, and collaboration with Quality, Production, and Engineering to resolve non-conformances.

Qualifications

• Experience performing visual, microscopic, and dimensional inspections of electronic assemblies.
• Familiarity with IPC-A-610 Class 3, space class requirements, and J-STD-001 Space Class 3 is a plus.
• Strong documentation and non-conformance reporting skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform visual, microscopic, and dimensional inspections of WIP electronic subassemblies and modules against internal and space-grade standards.
• Conduct final mechanical and visual inspections of completed product assemblies against blueprints and SOPs.
• Support ESD ground line equipment verification at workstations to maintain a safe, static-free facility.
• Assist with preventive maintenance programs to ensure proper calibration and safe operation of equipment.
• Accurately document inspection findings and non-conformances.
• Collaborate with Quality, Production, and Engineering to resolve non-conformances.
• Support additional QA/QC initiatives as needed.

Job description

VPT, Inc, a global leader in providing power conversion solutions for use in avionics, military, space, and industrial applications, is seeking a full-time Quality Inspector, for their office in Blacksburg, VA.

This position in the Quality Department will report to the Quality Assurance Manager. The Quality Inspector is responsible for the in-line inspection of mission-critical electronic subassemblies, complex printed circuit board assemblies (PCBAs), and final completed power conversion products. This role ensures full compliance with rigorous space and military workmanship standards and also supports additional tasks within the Quality Control area.

Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To

• Perform visual, microscopic, and dimensional inspections of work-in-progress (WIP) electronic subassemblies and modules by evaluating solder joints, component placement, wire routing, and conformal coating/encapsulation against internal, IPC-A-610 Class 3, and J-STD-001 Space Class 3 requirements.
• Execute final mechanical and visual inspections on completed product assemblies against blueprint and internal standard operating procedural requirements.
• Support monthly ESD Ground Line Equipment verification efforts across workstations to maintain a static-safe manufacturing facility.
• Support monthly Preventive Maintenance (PM) program efforts on basic production and quality equipment to ensure proper operational calibration and safety.
• Accurately document inspection findings and non-conformances.
• Work with Quality, Production, and Engineering personnel to resolve product inspection non-conformances.
• Support additional Quality Assurance and Quality Control initiatives as necessary.

The anticipated starting salary range for this position is $18.50 to $22.50 per hour.
