Quality Inspection Technician

Pay Range: $29-34

Seeking a Quality Inspection Technician for its Monroe, NC Additive Manufacturing facility. This role will serve as the primary quality inspector for the site and perform metrology inspections for Additively Manufactured components to ensure adherence to quality standards and product specifications. The role also involves managing the day-to-day operations in the metrology lab, maintaining inspection equipment, and supporting various quality assurance and control processes.

What You Will Do:
  • Perform quality inspections for receiving, in-process, and final inspections of Additively Manufactured components using advanced metrology inspection techniques (3D Scanner, CMM, etc.).
  • Manage the installation, setup, and qualification of new inspection equipment, ensuring quality standards are met.
  • Coordinate, review, and approve outsourced inspection activities to ensure results meet internal quality standards and customer requirements. Act as the primary contact for external inspection providers.
  • Perform First Article Inspections (FAI).
  • Conduct Measurement System Analysis (Gauge R&R, etc.).
  • Operate and maintain all metrology equipment and support preventative maintenance programs. Support calibration management activities as directed.
  • Coordinate with manufacturers or outside vendors for troubleshooting, maintenance, and calibration of metrology equipment.
  • Make acceptance/rejection decisions and report findings not covered in inspection procedures for further evaluation.
  • Record notifications of non-conformance, quarantine non-conforming products, and support containment activities.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including material science, engineering, and planning to support testing and documentation.
  • Support product requirements reviews and inspection planning with Quality Engineering.
  • Assist in inventory control of consumables and monitor shelf-life as directed.
  • Crosstrain on mechanical testing equipment for secondary testing support in the metallurgical lab.
  • Follow and maintain work instructions, procedures, and standard work within the site's Quality Management System (QMS).
  • Execute operations according to ERP and MES systems (SAP and Solumina) to track production and ensure compliance with requirements.
  • Attend occasional Zoom meetings outside regular hours for global collaboration.
Qualifications:
  • Typically requires an AA/AS degree or a University Degree in a related field, with minimum 4 years of relevant experience; or 6 years of relevant experience without a degree.
  • U.S. Person (U.S. citizen, permanent resident, refugee, or asylee) or eligible for necessary export authorizations.
  • At least 4 years of experience in a production environment following detailed inspection plans and work instructions.
  • Experience with advanced metrology inspection techniques (3D Scanner, CMM, etc.).
  • Proficiency with inspection software and data collection systems.
  • Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Experience with precision inspection tools and calibration processes.
  • Strong communication skills for cross-functional collaboration.
  • Experience with Quality Management System documentation and SOPs.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of experience with AS9100 or ISO 9001 standards.
  • Experience with CMM programming, nonconformance investigations, SPC, ERP, and metallurgical lab testing.
