Job summary

Petersen Inc. is seeking a skilled Quality Inspector/Lead to oversee employee reviews, training, and documentation of inspections in a fabrication environment. You will coordinate with QC teams, ensure timely reporting, and enforce standards across workers and suppliers.

The role requires expertise in NDT, GD&T, blueprint reading, and proactive problem-solving, with the ability to lead and mentor inspectors while maintaining safety and quality. Strong communication across all levels is essential.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for employee reviews, vacation slips, and documenting disciplinary action taken.
  • Train and review job requirements with QC team members.
  • Review shipping dates and estimated hours and hold team members accountable for achieving set deadlines.
  • Produce well organized concise reports in a timely manner.
  • Verify that all required inspection is complete and that all documentation has been accumulated.
  • Provide guidance, direction, and training to other inspectors as directed by QC manager.
  • Interface with customers, suppliers, and Petersen personnel.
  • Proficient in using, understanding, and applying all codes, standards, and specifications imposed on Petersen Inc.
  • Provide safety equipment.
  • Maintain safe environment.

Minimum Requirements
  • High School Education or GED preferred. Three years field experience.

Requires public contact and excellent interpersonal skills. Must be able to handle stressful situations in a professional manner. Must be able to favorably resolve problems, handle conflict, and make effective decisions under pressure. Must have a long attention span in order to listen to people, perceive the real problems, and bring issues to a successful conclusion. Must handle novel and diverse work problems on a daily basis. Emotional stability and personal maturity are important attributes in this position.
Essential Physical Functions
  • Requires prolonged standing, bending, stooping, and stretching. Requires occasional lifting of up to 30 pounds. Requires mobility to access difficult inspection access areas. Requires manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination to properly use necessary equipment. Requires eyesight correctable to within normal range. Requires working under stressful conditions or possible irregular hours.
Safety Requirements
  • Must not pose a direct threat or significant risk of substantial harm to the safety or health of himself/herself or others
  • Must be committed to a high standard of safety and be willing and able to comply with all safety laws and all of the employer's safety policies and rules and must be willing to report safety violations and potential safety violations to appropriate supervisory or management personnel.

Availability

Must be available and willing to travel as the employer determines is necessary or desirable to meet its business needs.

Working Conditions

Works in a typical fabrication and machine shop environment. Works in varied conditions, such as outside and inside facility work due to size and complexity of product.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Must be able to motivate and supervise people. Must be able to establish and maintain trust, unity, and partnering with management, team members and customers. Requires documentation of employee actions, i.e. disciplinary actions and time records. Must possess good communication skills and interpersonal relationship skills.
