Job summary

Corning Inc. in Phoenix, AZ, part of the Solar business, seeks a quality professional to ensure accurate grading of finished products and adherence to ISO standards.

You will lead CAPA activities, mentor inspectors, and collaborate with engineering, production, and supply chain teams to resolve quality issues. This role involves hands-on inspection, data analysis, and active participation in audits, with potential after-hours work.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 3+ years of experience in quality control within a manufacturing environment (solar or electronics preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of quality management systems (QMS), Six Sigma, and lean manufacturing principles.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure accurate, consistent, and timely grading of finished products according to defined standards and customer requirements.
  • Enforce adherence to ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and other relevant quality and environmental standards.
  • Implement and monitor corrective and preventive action (CAPA) processes.
  • Lead, mentor, and train quality inspectors.
  • Assign tasks, monitor performance, and provide feedback to team members.
  • Ensure the team follows standard operating procedures (SOPs) and safety protocols.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance quality and efficiency.
  • Work closely with engineering, production, and supply chain teams to resolve quality issues.
  • Analyze grading data and defect trends to identify opportunities for yield improvement, grading consistency, and process optimization.
  • Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) for defects and implement corrective actions.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and reports related to quality metrics and compliance.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to resolve raw material quality issues.
  • Address customer concerns regarding product quality and drive resolution.
  • Participate in customer and third-party audits as required.

Key Responsibilities

Qualifications & Skills
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 3+ years of experience in quality control within a manufacturing environment (solar or electronics preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of quality management systems (QMS), Six Sigma, and lean manufacturing principles.
  • Experience with tools such as FMEA, SPC, and Root Cause Analysis.
  • Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and quality management software.

The role involves physical labor, exposure to varying temperatures, and handling potentially hazardous materials. Proper personal protective equipment (PPE) will be provided and must be used at all times. May berequiredto work after hours and on weekends orholidays.

The range for this position is $29.00hourly rate -$31.00 hourly rate. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
