Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Life Sciences, Engineering or related field is required.
  • 5+ years in medical device/pharma or regulated industry with quality focus.
  • Experience delivering quality/technical training in regulated settings.
  • Knowledge of CAPA, nonconformance, change control, process validation and risk management.

Job Description
Position Summary

The Quality Excellence Capability Partner, North America, is responsible for designing, deploying, and sustaining technical quality capability-building programs across North America in support of BD's Quality Excellence Academy.

Reporting to the Associate Director, BD Excellence Quality, this role leads the execution of the Quality Excellence Academy within North America by developing and delivering structured learning programs that strengthen technical competencies, process knowledge, and quality culture across manufacturing sites and quality organizations.

The role will lead the design, development, and deployment of capability-building initiatives across Quality Engineering and Quality Systems. While initial priorities may include Investigation Management, Root Cause Analysis, and Problem Solving, the scope will evolve based on organizational needs and strategic quality priorities.

The role partners closely with site Quality leaders, process owners, subject matter experts, Central Quality partners, and Learning & Development to identify capability gaps, develop learning pathways, and ensure effective application of training in the work environment. Success in this role is measured by improved organizational capability, increased consistency in execution of quality processes, stronger inspection readiness, and sustained adoption of Quality Excellence practices across the region.

Key Responsibilities

The primary responsibilities will include:

Quality Excellence
  • Lead deployment of the Quality Excellence Academy across North America, ensuring alignment to enterprise quality strategies and business priorities.
  • Develop and deliver instructor-led, virtual, and blended learning programs that build technical quality competencies across sites and functions.
  • Partner with process owners and SMEs to translate quality requirements and best practices into practical, scalable learning solutions.
  • Assess organizational capability gaps and develop structured learning pathways, curricula, and development plans to address identified needs.
  • Initially serve as the regional capability lead for Investigation Management, Root Cause Analysis, Problem Solving, and related quality disciplines.
  • Expand capability-building programs into additional quality domains including Process Validation, Change Control, Technical Writing, and future strategic priorities.
  • Coach associates, leaders, and SMEs to strengthen technical expertise, decision-making, and consistent application of quality processes.
  • Support onboarding, role-based development, and targeted remediation programs to strengthen organizational capability and compliance.
  • Measure and evaluate learning effectiveness through observations, assessments, performance metrics, and stakeholder feedback.
  • Drive adoption of standard methodologies, tools, and best practices to improve consistency and quality system performance across sites.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Partner with site Quality teams, Central Quality, Learning & Development, and business leaders to ensure capability-building efforts align with organizational priorities.
  • Maintain robust governance and documentation associated with training programs and learning effectiveness activities.
  • Utilize data, quality metrics, inspection findings, and stakeholder feedback to identify capability gaps and improvement opportunities.
  • Support implementation of CAPAs, effectiveness activities, and remediation plans where capability development is required.
  • Facilitate Kaizen events, structured problem-solving workshops, and targeted continuous improvement initiatives as business needs dictate.
  • Share best practices and lessons learned across sites to strengthen organizational learning and quality culture.
  • Promote a culture of continuous learning, accountability, quality excellence, and operational effectiveness.
Education and Experience Required
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Life Sciences, Sciences, Engineering or a related field is required.
  • 5+ years of experience in a medical device, pharmaceutical or, biologics, (e.g. FDA, ICH).
  • Demonstrated expertise in Quality Engineering and Quality Systems within a regulated industry, including experience applying quality principles to improve product and process performance.
  • Demonstrated experience delivering Quality or technical training in regulated settings, including instructor-led, virtual, and blended learning.
  • Working knowledge of quality system processes such as CAPA, nonconformance management, change control, process validation, design controls, and risk management.
  • Experience coaching associates, SMEs, and leaders to strengthen capability, learning application, and compliant behaviors in the workplace.
  • Experience developing and supporting training effectiveness activities, including use of observations, feedback, metrics, and other verification methods.
  • Strong facilitation, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage diverse audiences, including senior leadership, in both in-person and virtual settings.
  • Proven ability to work cross-functionally and influence stakeholders within a matrix organization to drive alignment and results.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, including management of training documentation and records in line with compliance expectations.
  • Experience in problem solving, continuous improvement, and Kaizen, with demonstrated ability to drive measurable business impact.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required, approximately 25-50%.
Preferred Knowledge and Experience
  • MBA or equivalent business experience preferred.
  • Preferred experience supporting audit and inspection preparation, response readiness, or remediation activities.
  • Ability to coach individuals and teams to improve technical knowledge, confidence, judgment, and consistent execution.
  • Strong facilitation skills, including the ability to lead discussion, encourage participation, address resistance, and reinforce application.

Compensation

The expected Base Pay Range for this role is $168,600.00 - $269,800.00 Annual USD plus incentives. Final compensation will be determined based on experience, skills, and geographic location.
