Job summary
Panasonic Energy Corporation of North America (PECNA) is seeking a Quality Engineering Technician I for the Gigafactory near Reno, Nevada. You will implement QC systems for Li-ion battery manufacturing, conduct incoming materials QC in the warehouse, and support material inspections to ensure safety and performance.
You will analyze data to reduce defects, assist in process auditing, and contribute to high-volume production quality in a dynamic, safety-focused environment.
Qualifications
- Requires high school diploma or GED with familiarity in quality management tools (control charts, FTA, FMEA) and MS Office.
- Practical experience with materials analysis, testing, and chemical analysis equipment.
- 3+ years of quality technician background preferred; strong data analysis and SPC experience.
Responsibilities
- Conduct quality control systems for Li-ion battery manufacturing processes.
- Perform incoming materials quality control in the warehouse for cell production.
- Help establish quality control systems in materials warehouse of battery production.
- Inspect incoming materials including cell parts and chemical materials for battery safety and performance.

- Support cell manufacturing process auditing on materials to assure production quality.
- Other duties as assigned.

Panasonic Energy Corporation of North America (PECNA) is collaborating with Tesla Motors, Inc. in a large-scale advanced battery manufacturing facility known as the Gigafactory near Reno, Nevada which is known for its quality of life and expansive outdoor adventures.
- Conducting and implementing quality control systems for Li-ion battery manufacturing processes.
- Conducting incoming materials quality control in the warehouse for cell production.
- Helping establish quality control system in materials warehouse of battery production.
- Conducting inspection work for incoming materials including cell parts, battery active materials, and chemical materials for battery safety and performance.
- Helping analysis and evaluation of materials input/output data to reduce defects and improve battery performance.
- Providing support to cell manufacturing process auditing on materials to assure production quality.
- Other duties may be assigned.
- To ensure the health and safety in the workplace and for the protection of our employees, wearing PPE is a possibility and may include equipment such as a full Tyvek suit, safety shoes, gloves, safety glasses, face mask, bump cap, and a full hazmat suit that includes a respirator.

- High school diploma or GED
- Familiarity with quality management tools (control chart, FTA, FMEA, etc.) and MS Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
- Practical experience with materials analysis, testing, and chemical analysis equipment.
- 3+ years of quality technician background is preferred.
- Associate’s or Junior College degree in science or engineering field
- Experience using ISO 9001 quality management system auditing.
- A background as a quality technician in high-volume manufacturing is strongly desired.
- Extensive data analysis experience such as statistical process control of production data
- Experience in defect reduction of high-volume manufacturing products
