Job summary

Tenneco in Indiana is seeking a Quality Engineer to support the Quality Manager in implementing and improving our quality systems for automotive parts. You will provide technical support to ensure compliance with customer requirements and drive continuous improvement in product quality, cost, and satisfaction.

You will coordinate corrective actions with customer teams, lead problem-solving in scrap, process capability, and warranty, and train staff on APQP, BOS, SPC, Gage R&R and DOE.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Two years of experience as Quality Engineer in automotive or auto parts manufacturing.
• Travel up to 15% for domestic facility visits.

JOB DUTIES

Assist the Quality Manager and staff in the implementation, coordination, and improvement of quality systems. Provide technical support to the quality staff to ensure compliance with internal and external customer requirements, with emphasis on continuous improvement in product quality, cost and customer satisfaction. Coordinate all corrective action related to internal and external quality issues with the customer team. Assist in leading and organizing formal / informal problem-solving in areas of scrap, process, capability, and warranty. Provide training in quality systems and related areas such as APQP, BOS, Problem Solving, Statistical Process Control, Gage R&R and DOE. Support compliance with external customer requirements, including customer visits. Interface with design / process engineering, purchasing, manufacturing plants and customer on new product / process launches. Conduct system and product audits. Assist in maintenance of TS-16949 and ISA 9001 certification. Coordinate / facilitate continuous improvement in system compliance, product quality, customer satisfaction, and cost of quality. Provide risk assessment to Plant Manager, Business Unit and Director of Quality on customer design / quality issues. Submit monthly plant PPM performance to Director of Quality. Coordinate corrective action responses to the customer. Adhere to safety, environmental, quality, productivity, and performance standards as outlined in plant policies, handbooks and applicable work instructions.

MINIMUM EDUCATION

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or closely related engineering discipline.

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE

Two (2) years of experience as Quality Engineer.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

The required two years of experience as a Quality Engineer must have been in an automotive or auto parts manufacturing environment.

OTHER

Up to 15% domestic travel required to other corporate facilities.
