Job summary

NextGenEnergyJobs is seeking a Quality Engineer to own NCR workflows on the production floor and lead 8D RCAs with CAPA implementations. You will drive process plan execution for HTS Magnet and SPARC assemblies, monitor FOAK quality, and provide off-shift quality leadership to ensure engineering requirements are met on all hardware.

You will collaborate with Manufacturing and Engineering to refine detailed instructions, maintain Control Plans, analyze defect data, and support supplier quality

Qualifications

• NCR ownership and corrective action leadership.
• Experience leading 8D root cause analyses and CAPA.
• Knowledge of Process Plans and Control Plans in manufacturing.
• FOAK quality monitoring and data analysis for defect trends and MSAs.
• On-shift quality leadership with adherence to engineering specs.
• Collaboration with Manufacturing and Engineering to document and verify processes.

Job description

• Take ownership of the end-to-end Non-Conformance Report (NCR) workflow on the production floor. Promptly identify deviations, lead material dispositioning, and conduct 8D Root Cause Analyses (RCA) to implement robust Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA)
• Process Plan Execution:
• Drive process stability by ensuring the successful execution of Quality Plans and detailed Process Plans for HTS Magnet manufacturing and SPARC assemblies. Support the development and maintenance of Control Plans where applicable
• First-of-a-Kind (FOAK) Quality Monitoring:
• Monitor process health and hardware quality for low-volume, complex production. Collect and analyze discrete manufacturing data, focusing on defect trending, inspection results, and Measurement System Analysis (MSA) to ensure reliable measurements without relying on high-volume statistical methods
• On-Shift Quality Execution:
• Provide technical oversight and leadership for high-priority quality inspections during the off-shift. Execute established measurement and inspection methods to ensure all hardware strictly adheres to engineering requirements
• Partner closely with Manufacturing and Engineering teams to refine detailed manufacturing instructions and Process Plans. Ensure that quality-critical characteristics are accurately documented, easily understood, and verifiable on the shop floor
• Supplier Quality Support:
• Support the supplier quality team by identifying and documenting supplier-related defects discovered during internal production, assisting with root cause data collection and action plans as needed

Requirements

• Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 lbs
• Willingness to travel or work required nights/weekends/on-call occasionally
• Perform activities such as stooping, climbing, typing, standing, or sitting for extended periods of time
• Work in a facility that contains industrial hazards including heat, cold, noise, fumes, strong magnets, lead (Pb), high voltage, high current, pressure systems, and cryogenics
