Job summary

A leading engineering firm is seeking a Quality Engineer II for a 2-3 month contract in Monrovia, CA. The ideal candidate will have over 5 years of experience in Quality Assurance, preferably in an aerospace environment. Responsibilities include optimizing processes, analyzing trends, and ensuring compliance with customer specifications. Competency in problem-solving, strong analytical skills, and proficiency in MS Office are essential. This role may require weekend and overtime work to support manufacturing processes.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in Quality Assurance and Quality Engineering, preferably in aerospace.
  • Knowledge of aerospace company specifications and best-practices.
  • Experience with quality improvement techniques, including Statistical Process Control.

Job description

Amtec currently has a need for a Quality Engineer II need for a 2-3 month contract position located in Monrovia, CA. The qualified candidate will be responsible to ensure product and process predictability is optimized through: Reduced Costs, Improved Quality, Effective Corrective action, Reduced Cycle Times and Process Capability. Performs engineering and advanced Quality tasks which require significant knowledge and experience of engineering principles, theories, and concepts as applied to manufacturing and tooling throughout the product cycle.

  • Develops solutions to a wide range of technical problems requiring the application of engineering and Manufacturing/Quality engineering knowledge.
  • Develops, monitors and analyzes product/process trend data in order to optimize manufacturing performance and minimize product and process variability and associated production costs.
  • Develops and establishes problem/process root cause and definitive corrective action plans necessary to reduce: Scrap, Rework and Repair costs.
  • Reviews customer engineering and associated documentation for the identification of customer requirements and identifies/implements actions necessary to ensure compliance.
  • Evaluates initial/existing program predictability through the use and application of Manufacturing/Quality engineering and tooling techniques.
  • Plans and conducts analyses on manufacturing tooling to determine optimum performance, product/process improvement along with qualification to engineering specifications.
  • Coordinates / makes modifications to existing procedures, production processes, engineering specifications, and inspection techniques/plans/procedures. Monitors results necessary to validate improvements.
  • Coordinates with respective customers, vendors, and subcontractors on technical issues and corrective actions.
  • Develops product quality plans and inspection methodologies.
  • Assists the Quality Assurance department in the continuous review to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the company and its quality system.
  • All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

  • Knowledge of aerospace company specifications and best-practices
  • Aptitude for problem solving

  • Ability to drive root cause analysis
  • Team oriented with a continuous improvement outlook
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc.)
  • Background in Lean and/or Six Sigma principles including Process Mapping, SS, DMAIC, Cellular Manufacturing, FMEA, Pull Systems and Continuous Improvement Events such as Kaizen or Six Sigma Projects is preferred
  • Overtime and weekend work as needed to support manufacturing
  • Thorough working knowledge of the various customer and industry quality system models such as ISO 9001, AS9100, FAA, etc., is desired
  • Working experience with formal Quality Improvement techniques, including Statistical Process Control is desired
  • Working knowledge of and ability to interpret customer and industry standards, specifications, and regulations
  • Experience in blueprint reading and geometric dimensioning & tolerancing
  • Ability to work with and/or lead functional teams in a manufacturing environment
  • Practical knowledge of and ability to use statistical analysis methods and tools
Required Experience/Education/Training/Certifications
  • Minimum five (5) years experience in Quality Assurance and Quality Engineering preferably in an aerospace environment
  • BS or BA in Engineering or related discipline or technical equivalent
