Job summary

Steffes in Grand Forks, ND is seeking a candidate pursuing a degree in Quality, Engineering, Operations to support manufacturing process creation, revision, and maintenance. This role collaborates with Quality and Operations to monitor capacity and drive improvement.

You will gain hands-on experience with ERP systems, documentation, and standard work while developing strong problem-solving and organizational skills in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze and evaluate current state work methods, procedures, controls, and documentation systems within manufacturing and business processes.
  • Lead projects related to quality assurance, quality control, and/or quality improvement including definition, implementation, and reporting.
  • Participate in root cause analysis with key stakeholders and implement corrective actions.
  • Develop internal systems and tools to promote and monitor quality excellence for facility products.
  • Measure and scan material/parts under the direction of Quality Engineering.
  • Document, create, evaluate, and maintain procedures and standard work instructions.

Job description

Position Summary

This position is responsible for the creation, revision, and maintenance of manufacturing processes. This includes all production shop processes and production control/order processes. Will help monitor capacity and capability within the shop.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Work closely with the site Quality Team to analyze and evaluate current state work methods, procedures, controls, and documentation systems within manufacturing and business processes.
  2. Leads projects related to quality assurance, quality control, and/or quality improvement including project definition, selection, implementation, and reporting. Provides advice, compiles data, reviews trends, and estimates costs and results of improvement projects.
  3. Participate in root cause analysis with key stakeholders and implement corrective actions in response to nonconformance reports.
  4. Develop internal systems and tools to promote and monitor quality excellence for the products produced at the facility.
  5. Measure and scan material/parts under the direction of Quality Engineering.
  6. Document, create, evaluate, and maintain procedures and standard work instructions.
  7. Conduct tool and device calibrations which includes managing tools sent to third parties.
  8. Utilize the Steffes Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system for recording data related to inspections, nonconformances, and tool/device calibrations.
  9. Develop and maintain production acceptance criteria.
  10. Maintain a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in collaborative manner with customers, suppliers, co-workers, and management.
  11. Helps company meet its Strategic, Quality and Safety objectives.
  12. Other duties may be assigned.

Functional & Cognitive Requirements
  • This position requires walking, sitting, or standing to a significant degree.

  • Stooping, crouching, kneeling, and bending.
  • Handling, feeling, and gripping would be required for some activities.
  • Visual acuity is required to inspect work completed.
  • This role may be subject to internal and external environmental conditions.
  • Learn new tasks, remember processes, maintain focus, complete tasks independently, make timely decisions in the context of a workflow, ability to communicate with visitors, ability to complete tasks in situations that have a speed or productivity quota.
