Job summary

Crane Company seeks a Quality Engineer Intern who will drive process control and quality improvement across manufacturing and transactional processes in the value stream. You will collaborate with Engineering, Operations, Suppliers and Customers to develop, implement, and sustain robust controls in line with customer specs and industry standards.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a BA/BS degree in quality, chemical, mechanical engineering or related field.
• Strong problem-solving and Six Sigma experience.
• Proficiency in Excel and basic statistics.
• Strong verbal and written communication.
• Familiarity with ISO 9001, ITAF 16949 standards.
• Ability to read engineering drawings.
• Willingness to travel and work overtime as needed.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate a prioritized approach to developing, implementing, and sustaining process control plans for manufacturing & transactional processes in the value stream.
• Develop, implement, and maintain analyses of both internal and external quality escapes.
• Drive improvements using the Crane Business System by identifying improvement opportunities.
• Utilize 5-Why Root Cause and other structured problem-solving tools for diagnosing and resolving quality issues.
• Drive implementation of immediate containment actions and preventive measures to prevent reoccurrence.
• Understand key drivers and implement process improvements to cut Cost of Poor Quality.
• Interpret engineering drawings to determine quality and reliability standards.
• Record test data and reports through reports or transmissions.
• Assist QA Manager with third-party inspections and audits.
