Job summary

Jabil Circuit in Memphis seeks a Quality Engineer to own the quality function for global customer accounts and to liaise with suppliers and customers on quality issues.

You will develop QA plans, support quoting, review inspection processes, and drive corrective actions, while mentoring quality technicians and promoting Lean practices. A bachelor's degree in a related field and 3+ years of experience are required.

  • 3+ years of experience as a Quality Engineer in electronics manufacturing.

Responsibilities

  • Represent the quality function for global accounts and liaise with suppliers/customers on quality issues.
  • Develop and maintain QA plans and PPAP/APQP input for new product introductions.
  • Support quoting activities by participating in design, development and implementation.
  • Evaluate inspection processes and drive corrective/preventive actions.
  • Supervise quality technicians and inspectors and mentor lean practices within the team.

Job description

How Will You Make An Impact?

Represent the quality function of technical support, in conjunction with other internal support groups, regarding issues affecting manufacturing on global customer accounts. Serve as liaison between Jabil Circuit and suppliers or customers on global quality related issues.

What Will You Do?
  • Develop and maintain QA plans and timeliness of global new product introductions utilizing Advanced Product Quality Planning and Process Optimization specific to the customer.
  • Provide support for all quoting activities by participation in initial process design, development, and implementation phases.
  • Evaluate and provide input to inspection processes via inspection aids and instruction guidelines.
  • Support all global training programs specific to their customer by development and implementation of specialized training sessions for all applicable functions.
  • Develop appropriate systems for document storage, access and review pertaining to global customer accounts.
  • Review all supplies, internal, and customer discrepancies, coordinate and track the effectiveness of corrective/proactive action efforts.
  • Conduct periodic review and maintenance of all documentation files; develop appropriate systems for document storage and access.
  • Review all supplier or customer discrepancies.

  • Participate in the vendor survey activities as applicable. Drive proactive participation with suppliers and (when possible) aid in their process improvement efforts.
  • Interface with all departments as applied to the Policies and Procedures.
  • Provide insight and assistance of implementing and maintaining Process Improvement and Optimization concentrating on proactive methodologies.
  • Assist in driving the standardization of manufacturing processes of global customer accounts.
  • Interface and provide technical support on quality issues with the customer as needed.
  • Adhere to all safety and health rules and regulations associated with this position and as directed by supervisor.
  • Comply and follow all procedures within the company security policy.
  • Support and focus corrective action efforts, utilizing the SPC data and corrective action tracking package, and create and implement any meetings, procedures, or team‑building concepts, as necessary, as part of the corrective/preventative efforts.
  • Improve technical support for the quality organization.
  • Supervise the quality techs and inspectors.
How Will You Get Here?
Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in Quality Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or in a closely related field.
Experience
  • At least 3+ years of experience as a Quality Engineer in an electronics manufacturing environment (or similar industry strongly preferred); Some experience to include each of the following: Working with quality tools, including PFMEA, PFD, Control Plans, 8D, A3, DMAIC, Lean Six Sigma, PDCA, PPAP, AQP, Audit, SPC, Root Cause Analysis, TPM, Value Stream Mapping, 5S, Process Capacity, 3Way 5Whys, Risk Assessment, and Failure Tree Analysis, ISO certification programs, and experience in Lean manufacturing principals.
  • Supervisory or some sort of Lead experience is preferred for future project/leadership opportunities.
  • Or an equivalent combination of education, experience, and/or training.
