Job summary

RTX is seeking an Operations Quality Engineer in El Segundo, CA, onsite. You will improve material processing, minimize inspections, and resolve defects while coordinating with cross-functional teams across engineering and production control.

The role requires a BS in Engineering and at least 2 years in quality or manufacturing, with experience in AS9100/ISO9001 and the ability to obtain a U.S. government security clearance. Onsite work and aerospace domain experience are expected.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Improve material processing, minimize inspection, and resolve manufacturing defects
• Identify, segregate, disposition, correct and close nonconforming material
• Coordinate with Engineering, Manufacturing Technicians, and Production Control to identify trends and resolve nonconforming material
• Act on material, product and equipment alerts to prevent impact to product reliability
• Prepare data analyses and reporting for specialized quality functions
• Perform product and process audits for compliance
• Support PFMEA (FMEA) on processes and products to prevent defects
• Lead root cause and corrective action activities
• Support hardware quality drawing & design reviews and audits
• Manage dropped and damaged hardware processing and incident reporting
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite

What You Will Do

• Use critical thinking resources and methods to improve material processing; minimize inspection; resolve manufacturing defects/problems
• Conduct timely identification, segregation, disposition, correction and closure of nonconforming material
• Coordinate with cross-functional roles, such as Engineering, Manufacturing Technicians, and Production Control to identify trends and resolve nonconforming material
• Act on all applicable material, product and equipment alerts to prevent impact to product reliability using the nonconformance and/or purge process
• Complete such specialized quality functions as data preparation, analyses, and reporting.
• Perform product and process audits for compliance to various standards and product requirements.
• Support Process Failure Modes & Effects Analysis on processes and products to prevent product defects and mitigate risk
• Lead and support root cause and corrective action activities
• Support hardware quality drawing & design reviews
• Support program, corporate and third-party audits
• Manage dropped and damaged hardware processing and incident reporting.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project).

Qualifications You Must Have

• Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Math, Science, or Technology or other STEM related field of study two (2) years of experience in the field of quality, operations or manufacturing engineering
• Experience with AS9100 or ISO9001 Quality Management systems.
• Experience with technical procedures, specifications, standards, and other engineering and manufacturing documents.
• The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required.
• U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Qualifications We Prefer

• Experience with First Article Inspections (AS9102) and/or Advanced Product Quality Planning (AS9145).
• Effective interpersonal skills and ability to work well with team members, customers, and suppliers
• Ability to exercise sound judgement and apply decision-making skills with appropriate supervisory intervention
• Perform autonomous, self-guided process and product assessments, root cause analysis and corrective/preventive action
• Ability to effectively multitask and prioritize.
• Familiar with Six Sigma methodologies [e.g. Kaizen, Lean, Define/Measure/Analyze/Improve/Control (DMAIC), and Define/Measure/Analyze/Design/Verify (DMADV)] and resources [e.g. Analysis of Variance (ANOVA), Statistical Process Control (SPC), Capability Analysis, Design of Experiments (DOE), and Measurement Systems Analysis (MSA)].
• Experience with GD&T, Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing measurement resources and practices.
• Experience working in an aerospace-related manufacturing environment or with airborne related products
• Familiarity with Project Management techniques
• Active Secret Clearance or higher

Salary range for this role is 75,800 USD - 144,200 USD.
