Job summary

Holtec International is a U.S.-based energy technology company with a global footprint, including major bases in Camden, Pittsburgh and other locations. The Quality Engineer role provides a technical foundation to ensure adherence to 10CFR50 Appendix B, NQA-1, ASME codes, and ISO 9000 across supplier and manufacturing operations.

You will oversee supplier audits, drive corrective actions, and develop QA plans, while mentoring cross-functional teams and ensuring product/process conformity.

Qualifications

  • BS Engineering or equivalent, preferred in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering; or AS degree with one year of quality assurance related work; or a high school diploma plus three years of quality assurance related work.
  • Knowledge of applicable codes including, but not limited to, 10CFR50 Appendix B, NQA-1, ASME Section III, ASME Section VIII, AST-TC-1A, ISO 9000 and other industry consensus.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical foundation for developing/ supporting Holtec operations to comply with 10CFR50 Appendix B, NQA-1, ASME Section III, ASME Section VIII, ISO 9000 and other industry consensus.
  • Provide oversight and guidance to ensure compliance with suppliers and manufacturing facility operations.
  • Coach supplier and manufacturing colleagues on proper compliance and identify/escalate quality issues.
  • Lead cross-functional collaboration and maintain Manufacturing Inspection & Test Plans.
  • Act as liaison between cross functional teams reviewing/approving supplier procedures for Manufacturing Teams and Customers.
  • Prepare and submit supplier report cards, action plans and the Approved Supplier List.
  • Lead corrective actions as required by supplier and/or supplier non-conformance reports.
  • Work with Procurement, Manufacturing and Quality to develop standards and methods for inspection, testing and evaluation at suppliers.

Job description

Holtec International is a U.S.-based diversified energy technology company with its corporate technology center located in Camden, New Jersey in the Philadelphia, Pennsylvania metropolitan area. The company's corporate headquarters is located in Jupiter, Florida. The company also maintains several operations centers around the world, including major bases of operation in Camden, New Jersey; Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; Orrville, Ohio; and international operations in the Ukraine, England, Spain, Brazil and India.

Primary Responsibility
  • Responsible for providing a technical foundation for developing/ supporting Holtec operations as required to comply with the requirements of 10CFR50 Appendix B, NQA-1, ASME Section III, ASME Section VIII, ISO 9000 and other industry consensus.
  • Provide oversight and guidance to ensure compliance with suppliers and oversight and the manufacturing facility.
  • Coach supplier and manufacturing colleagues on proper compliance along with identifying and escalating quality issues, to ensure product quality and proper techniques.
  • Have cross-functional training and aid with supplier manufacturing and supplier manufacturing operations such as maintaining Manufacturing Inspection & Test Plans.
  • Will be a member of the quality assurance team that assures product and process documents match the specifications based on established specifications, codes, standards and procedures along with identifying, tracking and closure of deviations from established standards, in the manufacturing of products.
  • Conduct evaluations and oversight of suppliers to ensure procedures are being followed in accordance with design requirements, specifications, codes, standards, and regulatory guidelines.
  • Evaluation and selection of world-class suppliers in safety, quality, delivery, and cost
  • Perform surveillances, commercial grade surveys and audits to ensure compliance for work scope and governing specifications, codes, and regulations.
  • Evaluate supplier procedures and processes to determine supplier core competencies to ensure work is placed properly.
  • Perform Quality System, Process and Product audits on suppliers.
  • Work with suppliers to continuously improve performance, implement process controls and develop quality assurance plans.
  • Responsible to act as a liaison between cross functional teams, and reviewing and approving product procedures and processes from suppliers for submission to the Manufacturing Teams and Customers
  • Prepare and submit supplier report cards, action plans and the Approved Supplier List as required.
  • Conduct in-depth review and follow-up on the implementation of supplier action plans for poor report card performance.
  • Lead corrective actions as required by supplier and/or supplier non-conformance reports.
  • Work with Procurement, Manufacturing and Quality to develop standards and methods for inspection, testing and evaluation at suppliers.
Requirements

  • Perform defect trend analysis and root cause analysis of Holtec nonconforming material and processes.
  • Create, evaluate, trend and oversee the results of internal and external corrective action requests.
  • Generate, revise and implement Holtec Work Instructions.
  • Support internal and external surveillance and/or audits of Holtec and/or vendor operations and processes.
  • Provide technical support for work in process activities, new product evaluations, test and inspection activities as required.
  • Provide technical support to Holtec Teams.
  • Support Holtec receiving inspection requirements.
  • Provide support for Measuring and Test Equipment maintenance and calibration requirements.
  • Ability to use metrology and statistical methods to diagnose and correct improper quality control practices.
  • Perform Holtec documentation and regulatory requirements to complete/verify document packages are acceptable to the Interdivision Purchase Requisition (IPR) requirements.
  • Support Holtec requirements for new hire training and annual retraining of Holtec Team members.
  • Quality Engineer to manage and/ or train the Quality Team members in the department, responsible for the performance management and assist with the hiring of employees within the department.

Educational & Professional Requirements
