Job summary

Socket.dev seeks a Metallurgy/Materials Science professional to assist in developing and analyzing high-volume heat treatment and phosphate coating processes for steel bars, castings and forgings, applying deformation, thermodynamics and diffusion principles.

You will establish quality control methods, perform statistical analyses, support IATF 16949 compliance, and train staff. ITAR requires US citizenship or a green card.

Qualifications

• Bachelor in Metallurgy or Materials Science with emphasis in Ferrous Metallurgy and/or equivalent years of experience.
• One to five years of experience in developing and analyzing heat treatment processes; and conducting statistical analysis and quality assurance.
• Experience with microstructure analysis, heat treatment cycles, optical microscopes, Brinell and Rockwell testers; mechanical testing to various international standards.

Responsibilities

• Assist in developing and analyzing high-volume heat treatment and phosphate coating processes.
• Apply principles of deformation processes, thermodynamics, kinetics and diffusion for material selection and process optimization.
• Develop quality control methods and perform statistical analyses on processes and methods.
• Maintain and assist in the IATF 16949 Quality Management System; provide employee training and address customer concerns.
