Job summary

Harbinger Motors is seeking a hands-on Quality Engineer for the EDU/Drive Unit to ensure quality across components and assemblies throughout the life cycle. You will collaborate with suppliers, designers, and production to define standards, solve issues, and drive improvements.

The role requires strong analytical skills, familiarity with ISO/IATF quality systems, and travel up to 30%. A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and 3–5 years in manufacturing quality are preferred.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing) or related field.
  • 3–5 years in manufacturing quality or supplier quality engineering in powertrain or similar products.
  • ASQ certifications preferred.
  • Familiarity with ISO-9001:2018 or IATF 16949 standards.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
  • Proficiency with core quality tools: APQP, SPC, GR&R, PPAP, FMEA, CP.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor EDU/Drive Unit quality performance and escalate high‑impact issues with data.
  • Lead root cause analyses with cross‑functional teams.
  • Drive continuous improvement and capture lessons learned.
  • Develop and track data‑driven metrics for corrective actions and effectiveness.

Job Overview

We are looking for a Quality Engineer for Harbinger’s EDU / Drive Unit. You will be responsible for ensuring the quality of drive unit components and assemblies throughout their life cycle. This role involves collaborating with suppliers, product designers, and production teams to establish and maintain quality standards, troubleshoot issues, and drive continuous improvement. The EDU / Drive Unit Quality Engineer will act as a liaison between the company's cross-functional teams. Responsibilities include defining quality standards, performing root cause analysis, defining inspection standards, equipment controls, quality gates and determining corrective actions. A successful EDU / Drive Unit Quality Engineer should have excellent analytic and troubleshooting skills and be able to ensure that processes and products are consistently improved.

What You’ll Do
  • Monitor EDU / Drive Unit quality performance metrics, proactively identify and elevate emerging high-impact issues using process and warranty data for early resolution.
  • Drive timely root cause analysis and resolution by engaging and holding cross-functional teams accountable with data driven approach to ensure root cause is identified and resolved
  • Implement continuous improvement by driving lessons learned into relevant processes
  • Develop and track data-driven metrics for issue monitoring and corrective action effectiveness.
  • Create innovative tools and processes to enhance efficiency and scalability.
  • Continuously develop drive unit quality standards, quality control systems, and manufacturing and supplier quality protocols for Harbinger’s EDU / Drive Unit.
  • Thorough inspection and testing of materials, equipment, processes, and products to ensure meticulous compliance with quality specifications
  • Supporting the assembly team with EDU / Drive unit and equipment buyoff conducting technical and statistical investigations concerning quality issues, methods, and equipment, culminating in actionable recommendations
  • Formulating effective corrective actions, solutions, and enhancements for supplier, production, and product-related challenges specific to electric vehicle drive units.
  • Participating in design reviews alongside design engineering and manufacturing teams to mitigate manufacturing and assembly risks linked to electric vehicle drive units.
  • Leading and instructing interdisciplinary efforts to conduct Root Cause analysis for both internal and external electric vehicle drive units, ensuring timely responses and validation of corrective actions to prevent non-conformances
  • Leading MRB meetings and acting as a quality representative within the engineering change control board for electric vehicle drive unit systems

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing) or a related technical field
  • Three to five years of pertinent experience in manufacturing quality or supplier quality engineering involving powertrain or equivalent products.
  • ASQ Certifications such as Certified Quality Engineer, Certified Quality Auditor, Certified Quality Manager, Lean Six Sigma Green Belt, or higher, are preferred
  • Proficiency in ISO-9001:2018 or IATF 16949 standards is highly desired
  • Familiarity with fundamental quality core tools including Quality Management Systems, Supplier and Internal Audits, APQP, SPC, GR&R, PPAP, FMEA,CP.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills are essential
  • Excellent project management skills, capable of managing multiple projects concurrently
  • Solid understanding of electric vehicle drive unit technology and general assembly highly preferred
  • Ability to travel up to 30% of the time
