Job summary

Manpower Engineering is partnering with an industry-leading company in Sheboygan Falls, WI to hire a permanent Quality Engineer. You will lead in product quality, develop improvements to the quality system, and drive reductions in rejects and customer issues while supporting cross-functional teams.

This role offers a base salary up to $95,000 with bonus potential, full benefits, and opportunities for growth within a financially strong, globally active manufacturer with a 125-year legacy.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience.
  • Experience in a certified quality management system (ISO 9001:2015, IATF 16949, etc.).
  • Strong communication and ability to work with cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to present information to management, sales, and customers.
  • Project management experience.
  • Experience with APQP.
  • Experience with internal auditing.
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and quality software (statistical analysis, etc.).
  • ASQ CQE/CRE/CQM is a plus.
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or higher is a plus.
  • Experience with plastics processes is a plus.
  • Proactive, decisive, and good listening skills.

Responsibilities

  • Provide quality expertise for assigned Business Unit NPD activities, including design reviews, PFM analyses, FMEA, etc., with Engineering support.
  • Collaborate with customers quality and engineering teams to determine critical part features and manufacturability of design.
  • Recommend modifications to customer part specs and tolerances for cost-effective production.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives to improve quality and reduce scrap.
  • Lead PPAP submissions for new product launches to meet customer requirements.
  • Provide leadership and communicate quality requirements to manufacturing floor teams.
  • Investigate customer complaints, implement corrective actions, and lead root cause analysis.
  • Review warranty claims with Sales and Customer Service teams.
  • Utilize statistics and analysis tools to evaluate and improve quality metrics.
  • Support and enhance the overall quality management system.
  • Travel to other facilities/customers may be required.

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Quality Engineer will be responsible for providing leadership in the areas of product quality in one of the company’s most important divisions. This position will develop and implement improvements to the quality system resulting in higher levels of quality measured by reductions in product place on QC hold, scrapped, internal rejections, customer complaints, customer returns, PPM rates, and Corrective Action Requests.

Responsibilities
  • Provide quality expertise for assigned Business Unit NPD activities, including but not limited to design reviews, form, fit and function analysis, FMEA’s, etc., with the help of Engineering.
  • Collaborate with customers’ quality and engineering personnel to determine critical part features and review manufacturability of design.
  • Make recommendations to modify customer part specifications and tolerances as necessary to support cost effective production.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives to improve quality, efficiency, and reduce scrap.
  • Lead PPM improvement plan for strategic customers.
  • Be a technical resource for the initiation and implementation of cost improvement plans on new and existing programs.
  • Determine when process stability and capability studies should be performed on existing processes.
  • Review and analyze results.
  • Recommend changes to processes based upon findings and perform follow up to verify effectiveness.
  • Implement/support systems and procedures that assure compliance with the quality management system.
  • Coordinate measurements, layouts and testing as needed.
  • Develop and submit PPAP documents for new product launches to meet customer requirements.
  • Provide leadership, direction, and clear information to manufacturing floor employees regarding product quality, quality systems requirements and operational methods.
  • Receive and remedy customer complaints, document corrective actions and provide leadership to teams for root cause analysis and solution implementation.
  • Review and disposition warranty claims in partnership with Sales and Customer Service teams.
  • Use and promote the use of statistics and other analytical tools for evaluating and improving product quality.
  • Complete trend analysis for quality metrics, such as customer complaints, rework, and scrap to develop continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Support and recommend improvements to the overall quality management system.
  • Travel to other facilities or customers may be required to support business needs.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree is preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience.
  • Experience operating under a certified quality management system (ISO 9001:2015, AITF 16949, etc.).
  • Strong communication and demonstrated ability to work effectively with cross-functional work groups including supplies, customers, and associates, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to present information and respond to questions from managers, sales, and customers.
  • Project management skills with a history of accomplishment.
  • Experience with APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning).
  • Experience with internal auditing.
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong computer skills – In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Office. Experience with quality software applications (statistical analysis, etc.).
  • Recognition by ASQ as a CQE (Certified Quality Engineer), CRE (Certified Reliability Engineer), or CQM (Certified Quality Manager) is a plus.
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or above is a plus.
  • Experience dealing with plastic and plastic processes is a plus.
  • Proactive and takes action without being prompted.
  • Excellent listening skills.
