Job summary

Consolidated Precision Products (CPP) Syracuse is seeking a Quality Engineer to support development of robust manufacturing processes and quality systems for aerospace investment casting markets. You will gather, interpret, and audit data to determine acceptance of product to customer specifications and lead problem-solving activities to address yield and quality issues.

The role involves cross-functional leadership, contract review, and collaboration with NDT personnel to ensure product

Qualifications

  • Education: BS in Engineering or 7-10 years of applicable experience.
  • Certifications: CQA or CQ Engineer preferred.
  • Quality tools knowledge and hands-on experience.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and advance CPP quality systems, procedures, and practices.
  • Develop and document quality work procedures and processes.
  • Review contracts for adherence with CPP standards and practices.
  • Interact with CPP NDT level III personnel to ensure product compliance.
  • Oversees conformance and quality enforcement of casting manufacturing process.
  • Routinely audit production lots for adherence to established techniques and to ensure the repeatability of results.
  • Manage resolution of non-conforming material/processes.
  • Support identification of process yield issues using data analysis techniques (statistical, DOE, Six Sigma).
  • Communicate with customers to resolve quality system concerns/inquiries.
  • Participate during customer/external audits and drive corrective/preventive actions.
  • Actively participate in continuous improvement of processes to meet customer expectations.
  • Coordinate with engineering for qualification documentation and data submittals.
  • Review quality shipment documentation including certificates of conformance.
  • Supervise and verify gage R&R studies, process capability, SPC, etc.
  • Work closely with other departments to achieve objectives.
  • Use problem-solving tools to increase profitability.
  • Maintain a positive work atmosphere with respect and professionalism.

Job summary
  • Work cooperatively in a team environment to support development of robust manufacturing processes and quality systems to support the company’s growth in the industrial and aerospace investment casting markets.
  • Gather, interpret, and audit data to determine acceptance of product to customer specifications (internal and external).
  • Identify/define problems; perform root cause analysis, and support solution implementation to address problems that affect yield, rework, and overall quality of the product using a standardized approach (PDCA, Six Sigma, …)
  • Take a leadership role in resolving cross-functional problems.
Primary responsibilities
  • Develop, maintain, and advance CPP quality systems, procedures, and practices.
  • Develop and document quality work procedures and processes.
  • Review contracts for adherence with CPP standards and practices.
  • Interact with CPP NDT level III personnel to ensure product compliance.
  • Oversees conformance and quality enforcement of casting manufacturing process.
  • Routinely audit production lots for adherence to established techniques and to ensure the repeatability of the results.
  • Manage resolution of non-conforming material/processes.
  • Support the identification of process yield issues using various data analysis techniques (statistical, mathematical, DOE, 6 Sigma, etc.) to uncover variables in the process that are not maintained in a controlled fashion.
  • Communicate with customers to resolve/address quality system concerns/inquires.
  • Participate during customer/external audits including preparation, guidance and closure.
  • Drive closure of preventative/corrective actions, customer returns/inquires.
  • Actively participates in Continuous improvement of process/product such that castings meet or exceed customer expectations.
  • Coordinate with engineering team the applicable qualification documentation and data submittal packages.
  • Review quality shipment documentation including certificates of conformance and other quality audit checklists.
  • Supervise and verify the accuracy of gage R&R studies, process capability, SPC, correlation and other data related statistical activities.
  • Work closely with other departments to ensure organization objectives are achieved.
  • Use problem solving tools and techniques to increase profitability.
  • Maintain a positive work atmosphere with respect and communication in a professional manner.
Qualifications
  • Education: BS in Engineering Discipline or 7-10 years of applicable experience.
  • Experience: Quality systems, and/or formal training in Quality tools.
  • Certifications/Licenses: CQA or CQ Engineer preferred.
  • Other Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Basic engineering skills. Knowledge and application of statistics. Knowledge of computer applications. Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs. Quality system and problem solving skills. Able to interpret customer drawings, specifications, reports and basic working knowledge of GD&T. Good written communication skills. Good verbal communications with all levels of CPP management and manufacturing. Familiar with FMEA, Control Plan and PPAP documentation
Working environment
  • Working Environment: Office Environment with frequent activity in the factory.
  • Physical Demands: Sitting/standing for extended periods of time, able to lift up to 20 lbs, extended periods of time using a computer screen.
  • Travel Requirements: Occasional.
  • Required PPE: Check for required PPE in areas you may be working.
  • Safety Glasses and Steel Toed Shoes: Needed in all areas of the plant.
Pay Range
  • $75,000-$95,000
